It works in advanced mode, and all other pages I have tested work both in basic and advanced mode. It seems that in this one particular case, the extension won't even fire off the saveLocation request to the background page...

This will help the flow of the extension.

When the user enters credentials, let's check them right away. Best would be to do a GET on /namespaces/username, passing the credentials.

I'd like it to be possible to enter a string to make a custom URL. I.e., the user clicks Custom in the menu. A dialog box opens (as minimal as can be) and they enter a string S. Then the tag that gets deleted and added to the URL object is username/lastpage-S instead of username/lastpage. You'll need to make sure S is valid in a tag name (letters, digits, ., -, and :) and you can allow slashes (which you should translate to hyphens). E.g., I enter eric/funny in the Custom box, and you remove terrycojones/lastpage-eric-funny before adding it to the Fluidinfo object for the current URL.

The server already supports these custom URLs. E.g., http://lastpage.me/terrycojones/russell

The point of course is to allow a user to have multiple well-known URLs that don't interfere with one another.
