Hi there - made the digest configurable and default to SHA512, this change is backward compatible - I think :)

Hello! I'm getting the error 'Invalid hex string' when trying to verify the password '1234' and it's salted hash equivalent. The only thing I can think of is that I store the salted hash inside a MySQL server as a varchar. But who knows.

I suppose this is related to your package, as it's the only one which does something with crypto in my project. When generating a hash with .hash(), the following error gets thrown:

DeprecationWarning: crypto.pbkdf2 without specifying a digest is deprecated. Please specify a digest

I'm using Node v6.4.0 (npm 3.10.6) with password-hash-and-salt 0.1.3 on Ubuntu 16.04

Is their a maximum size of salted and hashed passwords? How much space should be reserved for storing a hashed password in a database?

I have a problem decrypting a password which i saved as string in a text file, so i can compare it to the password provided by the user in the login form. Could you give me an example of how you would do that?
