Floorp Localization

This repository hosts the localization files for Floorp, which have been sourced from Crowdin. It also include main English localization.

Improving the English Localization

If you notice any issues with the English localization, you can modify or fix it by following these steps:

1. Fork this repository by clicking the Fork button.

2. Clone your forked repository to your local machine using the following command:

git clone https://github.com/{YOUR_USERNAME}/Unified-l10n-central.git 

3. Create a new branch for your improvements using the following command:

git checkout -b your_branch

4. Edit floorp.ftl file.

The ftl file extension is used for Fluent localization files. You can learn more about the Fluent localization format by visiting the official Fluent documentation.

To localize a string, simply modify the text after the = sign.

5. Commit your changes.

git add .
git commit -m "Your commit message"

6. Push your changes.

git push origin your_branch

7. Create a pull request.

Hardcoded strings in settings and extentions pages

Have made an issue on the main repo in the past about this but it got drowned (?) so ima put it here

The "Preferences" header in about:preferences and the "Extentions" header in about:addons are hardcoded and can't be translated

material effect label

I am currently working on a German translation. There is a line that i don't understand:

material-effect = .label = Allow Mica For Everyone to modify the browser design

What is meant with Mica? Is it a name, or something? I am not sure how to translate that line. Also i wasn't able to find where the line is used in about:preferences

Process for adding a language?

I'd like to help translate Floorp to Finnish. Is there a process for adding a new language?

At the moment Floorp uses the terms "settings" and "preferences". Is there a reason for it?
Otherwise it would be more uniform to just use one of these terms.
