PCB: add sorcing instructions and CPL data

Ordering a custom PCB might not be easy for someone who is a newbie like me :)
It would be nice to have some recommendations such as layers number (2 if I'm not wrong), thickness (is 1.6 mm ok?), minimum hole size, outer copper weight

Also, some PCB manufacturers also offer assembly of SMD components, but I wasn't able to find CPL data in the Gerber/in the repository, only the BOM. Is it possible to have it?

Case layers order

I was trying to understand the assembly order for the lasercut layers, but I have doubts

lopro_layers_colored

In relation to the scheme above, layers from lower to upper:

  • Low profile: A-B-F-C-E-D
    • Is this correct? (I'm quite confident of this one, but better safe than sorry)
  • High profile: A-B-F-C-E-I-K-J-L-D
    • Is this correct?
    • If so, where should G and H go?

3d printed case?

The todo mentions a 3d printed case. Was that made and not uploaded, or never made?

License - consider a Open Hardware one

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, I don't know if this is possible, but might be a good idea to evaluate

I see the project is released under MIT, but as it is essentially about hardware, you might have a look to licenses specifically made for Open Hardware. The Open Source Hardware Association website contains a lot of information, and an example of license is the CERN OHL, available in different flavors (more or less reciprocal). Or for a strong copyleft you might have a look to GNU GPL, as v3 has also been designed to cover circuit designs.

Improve DXF usability

While working on a 3D printed case, I've imported the lasercut files into LibreCAD, QCAD and FreeCAD and found some minor problems that make it difficult to edit them. These are the possible improvements:

  • Remove stacked lines (sometimes there are two lines in the same place, this is a problem when using some online manufacturing services)
  • Fillets/rounds and hexagons are represented with polilines, replace them with circles/arcs/hexagons (it is a problem when importing in 3D)
  • Create polilines (e.g. a button hole should be a poliline, otherwise importing in 3D CADs leads to "open wires" errors)

(note: for the case I'm already modifying the DXFs, if I achieve to complete the case I'll also upload them)
