if you go diagonal on ds D-pad you will run faster, (haven't tested on 3ds) (tested on DSi Twiilight menu DSi Mode)

Metroid Prime Hunters has double-tapping the touchscreen to jump. This works well, and if it were added, it would basically allow the controls to be exactly the same between games.

"RELOAD" button should NOT be on touch screen - it should be bound to a dedicated button like Y as you reload many times during a game of Counter-Strike
Defuse should be moved from a dedicated button to the current "RELOAD" button on the touch screen - you only defuse once per game at max
Shop button should be the "RELOAD" button on the touch screen while in buyzone - not hidden in a menu!

L should be Zoom
R should be Fire
B could be Jump
X could be Left gun
A could be Right gun
Y should be Reload

By the way - love the game

Armor should get an actual logo in the game like Health to remain consistent and to take up less space on the screen

Would it be possible to modify the teams so we could have a 5v5/1v4/etc match instead of the locked 2v4 that we have currently?

It would be beneficial for DSi and 3DS users to be able to use more modern Wi-Fi connections. This is implemented in some homebrew, like dsidl.

If I'm understanding correctly, there would probably be conflicts with maxmod, but it may be able to be worked around or fixed. the DSi Mode Hacking Discord server might be able to help with that.
