yavne's Issues

Edge Normal Influence

This is a simple cube where all edges were selected and bevelled with two segments:
cubes
On the left I set the Face Normal Influence to Strong on the 6 big square faces of the cube using YAVNE. On the right I have use the Weighted Normal modifier with Weighting Mode set to Face Area and Weight set to 100.

The selected vertices show the problem. I want them to be flattened like in the cube on the right. Instead, they're slightly angled. I understand that the result given by YAVNE is reasonable because I just asked it to strongly influence the normals with the selected faces and that does not include those highlighted vertices.

What I propose is that YAVNE should have an Edge Normal Influence option where I could select the edges in the middle of the bevel and make those normals become orthogonal to the edge if set with a strong influence.

How the heck do you install this?

I download the zip of this repo, went to addons -> install from file and chose the zip. Then yavne showed up, checked the box to activate it and nothing changed in the editor. I saved everything, restarted and yavne was gone. Tried to install the same way and nothing happens now. Does not show in the addons list no matter what I do.

I'm on 2.76

Or can you please direct me to some other vertex normal editor.. For the life of me I can't find a single addon that works or maybe I just don't know how to install them.

No auto smooth! :(

In previous version I could simply enter edit mode, make bevel, and click Face Normal Influence.
In 2.8 I need to first set the mesh smooth shading. :(
It is possible to fix it?

How the heck do you use this?

So I see the control panel in the UV shelf, and I made a cube which I beveled, applied and smoothed, but regardless of what weight type or influence setting I choose and then press "Update Vertex Normals", I don't see any difference in my model.

I can see the diagnostic shading from Y.A.V.N.E. and change that, but that's it. The model itself stays the same.

Crash blender

Crash blender when i unchecked button "show vertices" , i dont know maybe its a bug of blender core

Compatibility with mirror modifier

Love this, and is such a life saver. But is there planned compatibility with the mirror modifier? Taking the example from the merge functionality in the readme, it would be nice to be able to merge the seam on one side of the neck, and have it mirror without having to apply the mirror modifier

Request : Sum Co-Planar Areas

Now this add on are really great it's almost perfect just like Modo Normal Toolkit.
Only one function that i think it's missing which is, Sum Co-Planar Areas

now you can see that the Co-Planar angle threshold really help defining the vertex normal on area where the vertices flow are uneven/or non quad

Normal multi-object-editing

Hi,
if you apply a normal editing with any object selected, only the last selected has update.

I'm make a simple screen capture to be more explicit.

Plans to port yavne to 2.8?

Was wondering if there are plans to port yavne to Blender 2.8 when the beta is stable enough? I have come to rely heavily on yavne since I started using it, and it completely changed my workflow for modelling game assets with Blender, so many thanks for developing it!
