Screenshot Tool with Qt for Python (WiP)

so far... image

but why!? ლ(´﹏`ლ)

I know. There are already more screenshot tools than grains of sand in the observable universe. And yes I know ShareX and it was a big inspiration but .. OK here are my main points what I wanna have:

  • #1 Draw rectangle, let it stay there, let me change it
  • #2 Remember my last drawn rectangle
  • #3 Take videos just the SAME convenient way one takes screenshots
  • #4 Pick rectangle from existing windows
  • #5 Let me change the Cursor shape/position on/off
  • #6 Make it work with high DPI and multiple screens

Well in the combination I've seen nothing yet. So I've been hacking. Looking good so far. I'll keep doing it :)

On top of these there are SO much more awesome things one can do. Of course I'd like to:

  • draw other things on the shot right away without opening something else.
  • upload to favorite targets
  • ...

Thanks 🙏

Remember my last drawn rectangle

I often need to shoot the same thing again. I don't wanna fiddle around to draw the exact same coordinates.
Things can be remembered!

Better even: Remember a bunch of last drawn ones!

Let me change the Cursor shape/position on/off

Currently its like take it or leave it. Well. .. we can draw on our image whatever we want. So we can draw a cursor.

  • Draw Cursor on/off at remembered cursor pos
  • Change cursor shape or position

Pick rectangle from existing windows

All tools have this already. Should be easy to do 👍
What I'd love additionally: shrink or increase the size of the rectangle with easy modifiers.:

scroll wheel:

  • outside the drawn rectangle: move edge or whole box
  • inside the rect: grow/shrink
  • 10x the pixels with Shift key

Timed capture.

I though the whole screen capture and then drag rectangle would fix all the needs one would ever have for a timed capture mode.
But turns out there are certain things that change or go away on ANY key stroke. So calling the capture mode breaks it already :/

So I'd suggest we have a timed capture mode similar to the aA one but with the rectangle still drawn! Plus a progressbar indicating when to make the shot.
