Hi Craig,

Thanks for reporting this. I can't reproduce this issue - can you give us a
bit more
info? What phone are you using? What Android build is APA26? (I'm not
familiar
with this one, is it Cupcake/Donut/Eclair?).

If you can always reproduce the issue it would be great if you could capture
your
system logs when it happens, let me know if you need instructions on how to do
this.

Adam

I think my phone has a version of Donut installed... I'm not really sure how
the
android version numbers work. Does Build number DRC83 make more sense? (I'm
just
pulling numbers off the 'about phone' screen).

Attached is a log file where the following happened:
- Receive an SMS.
- Click 'Close' (the notification light continues to blink after this, but the
popup
goes away).
- Click the sms popup item in the notification list. (It opens the android SMS
app
which freezes with a blank screen).
- Open the TaskControl program.
- Kill both the sms popup activity and the android mms activity
- Try to open the SMS application again (It opens correctly this time)

Thanks for checking this out,
Craig

Craig: Which phone do you have?

I have the G1. I've tried reproducing this with the debugger in the emulator
without success. I'm
tempted to uninstall then reinstall the app. I've been using it since the
beginning, so I guess it's possible
that it has managed to get into a state that isn't possible with a fresh
install...

Is this still happening? I'm closing for now but re-open if you are still
seeing this
and can reproduce.

It is still happening. I tried removing the app and re-installing it, but the
problem
persists. One thing I have noticed: The problem seems to be related to the
number of
messages I've received from each person. If sms popup triggers for a contact
that has
less than 100 messages of history, clicking the close button causes the phone
to hang
for about 5-10 seconds, but then everything is fine and behaves as expected.
However,
clicking the close button for a contact that has over 1000 history items locks
the
phone for much longer (I've tried waiting 10 minutes before rebooting).

Ahh this helps a lot. Ok re-opening. I will try reproducing after adding a
ton of
messages to the inbox. I think I may know why this is happening (one or two
queries
might be taking too long when there are this many messages to look through).

This problem seems to have gone away after upgrading to 1.0.6.

Thanks again for the great app!

Great, glad to hear it! There was one piece of code telling the system
messaging app
to mark the entire sms thread as "read" - once the thread gets beyond a few
hundred
messages this starts to hang the system messaging app. I never noticed this
myself
as I don't normally let my threads get too large, so it was really your comment
that
helped me find the problem :)

Marking this bug as fixed!
