Features

  • When you are done creating your symbol, copy the JSON and use it in your own ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript application!

Instructions

Get started by clicking the Add symbol layer button to add a symbol layer to your CIMSymbol. You can then choose from a predefined list of icons and shapes, or import your own symbol layer JSON. After selecting your first symbol layer, you can change its properties (size, anchor point, rotation, etc.) by clicking on the symbol layer type in the right panel. Use the expand arrow to the right of the symbol layer to discover more properties to customize.

You can add as many symbol layers as you like, and can reorder them by clicking on the symbol layer and dragging it to the desired location in the list.

When you are ready to see what the symbol looks like on the layer in the map, click Apply to feature layer. If you are satisfied with how your symbol looks, click Get SymbolJSON to convert your symbol to JSON. You can use this JSON to bring the symbol you created into your application on the CIMSymbol.data.symbol property.

Width settings < 1 for hatch lines appear not to be propery visually applied

See attached image. Note that setting the outline width of the symbol to a value less than 1, does seem to properly work, it is only the hatch lines' widths that fail to be properly set / displayed when a setting < 1 is used (e.g. 0.2). Instead of seeing the width clearly being diminished, the lines stay the same width as line width 1, but are rendered in a lighter grey color, the narrower you make the line going from 1 to e.g. 0.1.

Confusing display of added effects in UI

The current display of the added effects is confusing. In the image below, it suggests that I have already added three effects, while in reality, only the first two have been committed, and the third is just a box to choose a new one. This is not so intuitive...

< 1pt width values cannot be set in "Width" text box

Hi,

I noticed that, despite the intial value for width showing as 0.5pt for the CIMSolidStroke, see first image, once you make an attempt to edit it, only integer values are allowed to be typed in the box. It would be really desirably to be able to set floating point values like 0.2 or even 0.25 (Firefox browser by the way).

Allow deleting effect like layer

Currently, to delete an effect, you need to open up the properties of the effect, while for symbol layers, you can simply hit the button next to it, which is more intuitive and direct:
