esdc-development-setup's Issues

proxy-check-hidden.vbs fails with error "Expected statement"

I followed the directions at https://github.com/esdc-devcop/ESDC-Development-Setup/blob/master/proxy-scripts/proxy-scripts.md, but I get the following error now at startup.
(Oddly, I cannot create any "Startup" folder at Start Menu/Programs - it claims it already exists as "Start-up"?! --- I guess there is a symlink there?)

Windows Script Host

Script: C:\Users\Paul.Abrams\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\proxy-check-hidden.vbs
Line: 6
Char: 1
Error: Expected statement
Code: 800A0400
Source: Microsoft VBScript compilation error

Adding proxy break VS and NuGet compatibility

After adding the proxy on the PC, we're able to reach GitHub.

However, we can't access the Artifactory NuGet url using Visual Studio.

I suspect these following commands :

::System account proxy environment variables
setx HTTP_PROXY http://%USERNAME%@proxy.prv:80
setx HTTPS_PROXY http://%USERNAME%@proxy.prv:80

Don't suggest using Vim

The readme has the following excerpt:

_Suggested Settings:

Use 'Vim' as the default editor_

If we want to encourage people to use this stuff, we should not encourage them to use Vim as their default editor. The only people who should use Vim are Vim experts.
