2048-multiplayer's Introduction

Project State

Going forward, I will not be working on 2048 multiplayer. Feel free to fork/clone/copy+paste the code and host it on your own. I'm happy to add links to others hosting a 2048 multiplayer as long as there are no ads.

2048

A small clone of 1024, based on Saming's 2048 (also a clone).

Made just for fun. Play it here!

That screenshot is fake by, the way. I never reached 2048 ๐Ÿ˜„

Contributing

Changes and improvements are more than welcome! Feel free to fork and open a pull request. Please make your changes in a specifically made branch and request to pull on master! If you can, please make sure the game fully works before sending the PR, as that will help speed up the process.

You can find the same information in the contributing guide.

2048-multiplayer's Issues

Describe Target better

there is no description of differences to "normal" 2048
i can only guess by observing what seems to happen
there should be a short introduction

  • games are won before one of the players reaches 2048 (and without one of both having no space left)
  • additional numbers appear... but when and why?

Can I ask you a question about modifying the source?

when using your source to create 2048 game in own domain, what part do I need to modify in this source ?
Only for the purpose of practice, I don't have any commercial purpose.
Sorry for my pool description.. I'm non-English-speaking pupils...ใ…œใ…œ

Two winners?

Just played a game where both players received a "You win" message. They didn't have the same amount of points either.

Random Losing

I lost against my opponent after ~30 seconds for no apparent reason.

"Looser" overlay remains when beginning new match.

issue
I don't know how easy it is to replicate this issue, but It happened to me on the first try. When I lost to someone (by 20 points, damn) and found a new opponent the "Looser" overlay was still hovering over my game.

Choosing your opponent

I would love it if there were an way to play against people I know in real life instead of just random people.

Maybe Facebook or Twitter credentials could be used to "login" and find other players?

Separate "thinking" from "twitch" players

Playing the game for a while, it quickly becomes clear there are two separate types of players; the "thinking" player that thinks about each individual move and (what I like to call) the "twitch" player who mostly rely on figuring out and using patterns.

Personally I employ this twitch style, but it does tend to utterly trash the thinking players. I'd like to keep using this style, and playing against other, similar players is quite fun, but I fear it's ruining the fun for the thinking players who may make brilliant combinations but can't beat the speed of the "twitch" type players.

Isn't there some way to separate the two types using game modes or options? Perhaps limiting the number of moves per second or some other game mechanic?
