Two students of mine are working on creating metalab based site for meta-analyses of voice patterns.
In trying to adjust the yaml files to the specific needs of those meta-analyses, they met the following issue with the metalab package:

"the functions tend to load .yaml files from their github repository.
The url to load them from their repository is defined within in the function and we can not overwrite it. To be very specific:
There is a function called get_metalab_data() which uses the function load_and_validate_dataset(), and this function uses get_metlab_field_info() - and here they defined the url (https://rdrr.io/github/langcog/metalabr/src/R/load_objects.R).
So when we would just use get_metalab_field_info() we could specify our url in the (), but we cannot do that when it is nested within another function - or is there a way to do this?"

They could of course fork the package and modify those calls, but then they would not be able to keep up with changes. Is that the only course of action?
