pyzgy's Issues

ZGY to SEGY converter ; Header is not segyioclassical

Hello! I have a few questions regarding pyzgy.

  1. Apparently, pyzgy is a wrapper on the segyio, so it doesn't have some usefull methods, like .bin or .text. Where i can find direct converter from zgy to segyio file without using pyzgy to work with siesmic cubes ?
  2. Secondly, i discovered that file.header method doesn't outputs metadata of the whole seismic cube, like segyio does. Instead it outputs information of each trace in the cube, which is not helpful. How i can manage this situation?
  3. Does pyzgy library have a method 'bin_size' that allow to extract a size of a bin in physical meters?

extend to include Write capability

Is there a plan to wrap the openzgy.api ZgyWriter class within pyzgy? Currently I receive AssertionError: when trying to open a zgy file using a writeable mode like pyzgy.open(targetpath, 'r+') as zgyfile:

np.bool depreceated

Numpy depreceated the builtin numpy.bool in favour of the Python default bool.

This is now a breaking change for me in Numpy 1.24.2 as np.bool has been fully removed,

Versions of numpy>=1.20 will raise an error if numpy.bool is used. Currently this is the case in OpenZGY.

Numpy suggests via the warning:

AttributeError: module 'numpy' has no attribute 'bool'.
`np.bool` was a deprecated alias for the builtin `bool`. To avoid this error in existing code, use `bool` by itself. Doing this will not modify any behavior and is safe. If you specifically wanted the numpy scalar type, use `np.bool_` here.
The aliases was originally deprecated in NumPy 1.20; for more details and guidance see the original release note at:
    https://numpy.org/devdocs/release/1.20.0-notes.html#deprecations

pyzgy should ship openzgy with some slight modifications here that ensure forward compatibility with Numpy.
