youpy's Introduction

YouPy

a simple clone of pytube library; and modified for my personal needs

I hit "http error 429 too many requests" while using the pytube library. Although I have updated my code while using pytube to put sleep between downloads; I am still banned from downloading videos.

To workaround this; I have cloned pytube library and created a new class "YouTubeItem" which can take request header. By passing cookie and user agent to the request header; i was able to download again.

  • Simple Usage:

youtube_item = YouTubeItem(video_url, request_headers = {'cookie': <your cookie>})
v_1080p = youtube_item.streams.filter(res='1080p').first()
if v_1080p is not None:
  v_1080p.download('<download_path>', filename=<file_name>)

youpy's Issues

Got Error when try to download subtitle

I used this code to get subtitle of video, but I faced this error:
File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Python36-32\lib\site-packages\youpy-0.0.1-py3.6.egg\YouPy\captions.py", line 36, in generate_srt_captions
File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Python36-32\lib\site-packages\youpy-0.0.1-py3.6.egg\YouPy\captions.py", line 28, in xml_captions
TypeError: get() missing 1 required positional argument: 'request_headers'

HTTP error 429

Hello. I noticed you created this just so you could avoid HTTP error 429: too many requests. So I thought that you could help me solve the problem. I changed my code so it uses you package but I still get the error. Do I need to wait for me to get unbanned and try it again? Or is the issue something else?

slow downloading

when I run the script that I wrote with YouPy on my VPS, the maximum speed that the video is being to download is about 3 MB/s, my VPS download and upload speed is about 1GB/s and it takes a lot of time to download a video.
I check PyTube and found this issue in this link Really slow downloading with CLI vs Interactive Prompt and it seems that the problem fixed when they update PyTube with multiprocessing file downloader.
I was wonder that can you do the same and Implement a multiprocessing downloader in YouPy?

yt.title return 'YouTube'

When I try to get the title of the video, it always return YouTube.
here my code:
yt = YouTubeItem(url=url, request_headers=header)
print(yt.title)
