User can annotate via empty commit messages (git commit --allow-empty) but git status doesn't register this as a meaningful change, thus this commit isn't automatically pushed.

When the user is offline, the behavior should probably be to simply add and commit without pulling and pushing.

We plan to use GitHub personal access tokens for user authentication. Users need to understand what this is, what it means for our application to store a token locally, when this is not appropriate and an alternative (e.g., one-time use of a token when a user is on another machine).

In remote environments the required git config (username and email) are not set by default often, causing the script to fail.

Make sure this case is handled properly.

Since the autocommit script unconditionally pulls / pushes, it is modifying git objects and causing lock files all the time. So if someone is using autocommit and normal git commands on the same machine on the same git repository, this gets very confusing for git.

This is ok for now since we support people using autocommit or git, but will need to be solved to promote wider usage.
