fiati's Introduction

Fiati music font

Fiati is an OpenType music font with fingering diagram/chart for multiple musical instruments. Because mainly wind instruments need those diagrams for teaching and learning, we have decided to call this font fiati (plural of "breath" in Italian, a simplified way of calling that instrument category).

Introduction

Fiati is based in the fingering section from Bravura font v0.93 and the SMuFL documentation, so most of the credit for this font goes to Daniel Spreadbury from Steinberg Media.

Installation

Download the font files from the releases page within this repository. To install the font, it is usually just a case of double-clicking the downloaded file and agreeing to the install process. Please, refer to the usage documentation for more details.

fiati's Issues

Delete README.txt and link to fiati-usage.md instead

I found it confusing upon finding the repo that there were two README files in the root directory, one README.md which was displayed in the normal github way, and another README.txt that was linked to in the original file. I think it makes more sense to link to the fiati-usage.md file and delete the README.txt which is essentially a copy. Another route would be to copy/paste the usage docs into the README.md, but that defeats the purpose of having a separate usage doc altogether.

Add Whistle fingering

It would be good to have the Fiati music font extended for the Tin Whistle and Low Whistle. The Tin Whistle is also called the Penny Whistle. This font can be constructed using the Bret Pimentel Fingering Diagram Builder at :
https://fingering.bretpimentel.com/
There is already options for Instrument 'Simple System' and Key Set 'Pennywhistle'.
This would support issue in repo eduardomourar/fingering-diagram:

Implement Brass simple diagram

The fingering diagrams for Brass (valved) instruments should be relative easy to implement, but consider it always horizontal probably. We can use the unicode range from E640 to E6DF.
