The island does not evolve in elevation as a result of overwash. The way to implement this is determine overwash from scaling laws (e.g., Lazarus, 2016 GRL).

The code is slow because of the number of seeds that need to be dispersed as shrubs increase in spatial scale. One option: convert code to another language, i.e. Julia.

Add Storms

Storms need to occur periodically with a given magnitude

High water events will cause overwash. This will erode dunes and change island elevation, and potentially kill shrubs.
