100r-theme-editor's Issues

Color slider spacing is just a bit weird.

There's a bit of a weird spacing from the top of the sliders to the tabs. It feels a bit off...

I think an easy way to fix this would be to shorten the section (alongside the color preview box) just a bit to eliminate that extra top padding.

Refactor styles and metrics

The styles (especially the metrics) leave a lot to be desired in their current form. They ideally need to be made with centralised metrics as well as be made more relative and flexible.

I think it would be nice if the app was made a bit (but not completely) responsive, just so it can be squished just a little bit at least.

  • Refactor buttons so they use the same function
  • Hover styles for the preview and mixer buttons.
  • Put the metrics under one roof
    • Even despite the button crap... just make the buttons behave.
  • Try making the metrics at least a bit flexible?
    • You don't have to make it super-responsive because it's not meant for that, but a little bit of squishing would be nice?

Basic tests can only show one result at a time

The basic gradation tests only show one problem at a time, This is because it's currently modeled by a Custom Type. This needs to be changed into a record so they can be displayed simultaneously.

I also need to come up with a nicer visualisation for these in general.

Consider timestamped file exports

Currently the file exports are just theme.svg, but maybe they could be timestamped, ie. theme 2021-02-05 2006.svg for something that feels just a bit more refined.

Whether or not I'll do it depends on how simple and easy it is to use time zones in Elm. (I haven't really used that functionality before)

More nuanced borders for the colour preview area

Currently, a border is rendered around the colour preview only when the background colour is selected, but the user for whatever reason might have a different background colour that's either very similar or is the background colour, so instead of just checking if bg is selected, it should also check for any selected colour's contrast against the background.

Add a small preview that gives a better impression of background colors.

I currently don't feel like the main preview area is sufficient to give a nice general impression of how a theme is going to work out, because there will be situations where background colors will be isolated without any foreground content on them, so I'd like to come up with something that does that without bulking it out too much.
