repo-badges's Issues

Hit counter not working

Hi ๐Ÿ––
I had added a hit counter badge to my repo but it's counter is stuck at 1 and not increasing

Repo

NodeSecurity "Live" Service Badge

Why ?

Security matters. Users care that the app they are using is not going to be compromised and result in their personal data being lost/stolen. We can give people some reassurance that we also care about security by including this service in our Node-based projects and adding a badge to our readmes to inform people that _we take security seriously_.

What ?

https://nodesecurity.io/services
nodesecurity-live-service

Cost/Benefit ?

Cost: It's free for open source so the only "cost" is the time to set it up.
Benefits: better visibility of security and greater confidence for anyone using the module.

(How ?) Todo:

This will not require a code update in any of our projects it's just a GitHub integration and badge in the readme. But we should make notes on how to set it up so others can follow.

  • setup nodesecurity for one of our projects: dwyl/hapi-auth-jwt2#201
  • document the setup process
  • update the readme for repo-badges with instructions
  • enjoy the rest of day knowing security is being automagically checked by a great service!

List of badges

Is it a good idea to create something like a list with all the badges mentioned and links to copy-pasting? Something like a summary.

Typo in readme

Noticed this when flicking through the doco, line 132 in README.md:
we're *excited* that there is more *choie* in the JS testing space!
should be
we're *excited* that there is more *choice* in the JS testing space!

Hit Count not working

As first noticed by @spences10 in #24, the hit counter is not woking and appears as a broken link. Just logging the issue here as the previous one has been closed by the issue owner.

dwyl badge?

@jrans mentioned having a badge for Tudo the other day ...
we need to have one for dwyl (generally) too...!! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

@dwyl/doers ideas?

relates to: dwyl/tudo#35 (Tudo Badge)

GitHub Actions Badge (CI Build Passing)

Sadly, our old favourite CI tool Traivs-CI has decided to cap the number of minutes that an open source project/organisation can use in a month to 1k mins. see: dwyl/learn-travis#67

So we are migrating to using GitHub Actions for a few of our projects.
And I figure we might as well use the Badge ...

Flat Badges?

e.g: Build Status

Might BadgeList be useful to DWYL members and the DWYL team?

To offer folk on DWYL some external recognition for work they have done, it can be possible to use sites such as BadgeList.com, and harnessing third party affirmation, to show where folk have skills that external parties could well find useful.

I accept that DWYL may not want to do this, it might prove somewhat complex, but it may help teams formed on GitHub activities to benefit with external visibility for their contributions.

For a product road map, introduction to the team and the skills being used can be reassurance for external parties that numbers are signing up to a project, and that a viable range of skills is being accessed.

Here is an impassioned debate on Facebook about the pros and cons of badging ...

And here is a link to a Tweet to the BadgeList founder:

And thanks @nelsonic for the labels, I wasn't sure where or if this would fit anywhere ...

Petty Description Update Request

I can't do a pull request for this so this is the only other way I know to mention this. If I'm just being ridiculous feel free to ignore me :)

Could you update the grammar in the repo description?

Current:
โญ๏ธ use repo badges (build passing, coverage, etc) in your readme/markdown file to signal code "quality" in a project.

Suggested:
โญ๏ธ Use repo badges (build passing, coverage, etc) in your readme/markdown file to signal code quality in a project.
