since the new update i haven't been able to see any text colors aside from my own, i can see them in memos. but in 1 on 1 i cant
ive tried resetting my computer closing the program etc.. what should i do?

whenever I try to do either of these things, I get the message "Failed to open "C:Users/(name)/AppData/Local\pesterchum/profiles/(username)"

When I have multiple tabs open and try to close one I get a crash:

so my pester chum completely broke on me and didn't let me access anything saying it could not connect to the username and now i need to get back to my account and need help

how do I switch back to the regular pesterchum theme. I changed it and now it's not showing up on the themes list!

after learning how to work python, download pip and install python dependencies, ive come to a solid bust that is:

"ERROR: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement PyQt5 (from versions: none)
ERROR: No matching distribution found for PyQt5"

and

"ERROR: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement ostools (from versions: none)
ERROR: No matching distribution found for ostools"

everything else was able to be installed, and running "python pesterchum.py" doesn't work so im at a complete loss here

im not very tech savvy, so im glad i even managed to get to a point, but now im just discheesed that i cant get in. not to mention im on a mac so everytime i try to directly open the only file that says pesterchum, my damned macOS stuff keeps blocking things they cant verify so that blows

This is the error I just started getting out of the blue. The file has been extracted and I still had the error on a fresh install on a different drive. This message just pops up when I try running the exe

Of course, once again, the pain sets in as I can not figure out how to run the mac version with python, and using the command in the installation leaves me with an error that no Pesturchum.py file exists.

im new to pesterchum, my friend made me get it like just the other day so pardon me if i have no idea what im talkin' abput.
every time i relaunch pesterchum it says my name 'tenebrousTentacle' was taken. it was working just fine when i got it. and it does this every time i open it again.

when i opened the program the first time it leet me use carniiv0r0u2Tactiiciian as my tag but when i re opened it it didn't allow me to use the tag

Right so i solved it.
However i cant tend to the profile, (changing my mood, adding chums, etc) so i made another chumhandle, and it logged me off entirely again.
I registered myself on nickserv aswell, but it keeps denying me access.
What do i do

I'm not sure why this is happening? all of the handles I'm creating are my own, and its not like I'm changing computers or anything

I signed in last night under my handle and everything was working just fine! I left pesterchum open overnight and when I got back to the computer a few minutes ago the application was closed but I just assumed that my brother had closed it since he was on, nothing to worry about. So I do the same thing I did last night and tried to sign in using my same handle only it said that it was already taken! I then went to use my 2nd handle and looked through the userlist and when I found my 1st handle I pestered it, but then a little notification popped up saying that "New pester from [insert 2nd handle here]"

and then a second pesterlog popped up and I could type using both handles!

But it wouldn't let me use my 1st handle outside of that one pesterlog with my second handle. So I closed out of the pesterchum application completely and then when I opened it back up again it wouldn't let me use either of my handles! I don't know what to do!

I'm currently working on a small project for my group of friends and one of things I wanted to do was have our own little network on Pester. I've set up a basic IRC server and can connect to it using Hexchat, however, when I try to connect to it using Pesterchum I get an error saying that the SSL has the wrong version number.

How would I resolve this?

I'm not sure why, but every time I try to connect to any of the servers, I'm not especially tech savvy so I definitely could be doing something incorrectly.

I don't know how to fix it and people in the mspfa discord said to leave a tip to you about this.

ive redowloaded it multiple times and i read ur othr comment for someone else abt the same issue but i geniuely have no idea how to fix this or backup a file:(

my chumhandle has been mine since the day i downloaded it, but today it said that my chumhandle has been stolen.

So, since I updated Pesterchum to the version released yesterday, me and my friends see the text colors (even the chumhandle) of each others only black. We see the correct colors in the memos, but not in the normal chats.

This didn't happen before, I have more old versions and works fine without this issue.

im not sure if this is an issue with my computer or something, but all of the screens are super small on my end, like eyestrain levels of way too little. everything works fine otherwise. just... tiny.

hello! i’m a mac user (unfortunately) and haven’t been able to get a windows device yet. i have tried downloading the latest mac version, but when i do so, it just puts a file on my computer, not an application. i’ve gone into the file and opened the script called “pesterchum” but everytime i open it, my mac needs something allowed, even if it’s the same thing over and over again. i’ve allowed every single thing it’s requested, and even opened and allowed other scripts in the file, but nothing seems to work. i’m not sure if there’s a fix to this, but i’d like to see anyways!!

When i close pesterchum using the X or closing all tabs, if i click on it again it will open a completely separate pesterchum client from mine. example: username totalTremor, close window, click on pesterchum in the toolbar to open it, username Pesterclient223
if i uninstall it might fix but i don't want to lose my profile, any help? the only way to get back into totaltremor's profile once pesterclient's is open is to close all instances through task manager...
edit: I was wrong, every single time i open pesterchum, if it was opened previously it will open it in a new account each time. (pesterclient345, pesterclient8774, etc.)

For some reason I can't tick the option 'receive random encounters' at all. Like it's blocked

Does this pesterchum build work with more fan made themes for the old version or is there anything that'll have to be changed/rewritten ?
I'm just asking because I dont have any experience in coding, don't want to accidentally break my client or something in the name of pretty aesthetics

So i accidentally closed it while looking at the themes and when i reopened it said my username was taken. i hit the dropdown menu for selecting an existing user and clicked on mine, but when i hit ok it kicked that profile out and gave me the same menu again after less than a second.

Edit: now its saying the account has been deleted and that it already exists at the same time.
Edit 2: it seems to only happen when i close the window if the theme is different from the default. i also get locked out of a profile if it isnt set as default. im gonna try a reinstall to see if it fixes the problem
Edit 3: I managed to get back in to my handle and here are my findings for the most recent version of pesterchum. I cannot have more than one handle on it. if I try to use any handle other than the one set as default after reopening it it says that it is taken. I cannot close pesterchum with a theme other than the default selected without being forced out of my handle until i reinstall the program, meaning that its probably better not to change the theme at all. the 32 bit version is slightly more functional than the 64 bit version, but not by much. I will later try using different versions and even a different computer, but so far this is whats going on.
Edit 4: after looking at the closed issues i realized that the problem was that pesterchum wasnt actually closing. Nevermind!

my handle is tinyToon, and i cant back into my acc. i never had a prompt to set a password or email. it says my handle is already used, and i dont know what to do.

ive had pesterchum for a few months now and this is the first time that its broken. ive tried re downloading it a few times and it still hasnt changed

Any time I try to get back into pesterchum, it says my username is taken. I did see on the faq that you do have to fully close the application for it to work, but I have been and it still won't work, it's also not running according to task manager. I think I may have messed it up by moving the application to my desktop for easy access. When I did that, it stopped working (would give me an error saying I should try redownloading it to get it to work) and I struggled for a bit to get it working, but eventually another pesterchum application appeared in the folder that I could actually use, which I think where the problem is. Any time I try to delete the version of the application that won't work, it says that it's running and I can't delete it. I think it might fix if I could figure out how to full delete it and redownload it but until then, is there another fix to this issue?

So I created a profile, it appears on the userlist and in the app's files too, but something happened or glitched out after i closed the window because I can't log back into the profile because it says "It's (the name) already taken!"

I used to be able to run the old pesterchum fine but now I keep getting an "[Errno 51] Network is unreachable" error code with this version. I have absolutely no idea how to fix this or if it has anything to do with the device being a mac. Any ideas?

anyway i uhh had a problem with the application that i downloaded? dont let the dirk theme fool you i have no idea how code and stuff works i just downloaded the file and opened it

but uh anyway. im currently on a mac and have been trying to run the app but only this is popping up

im not exactly sure what the problem is and if its a problem with pesterchum itself or my own computer but i could use some advice haha

quick edit: oh yeah, forgot to mention: i downloaded the most recent issue, so checks yeah i downloaded Pesterchum-Alt-Mac-1.20.zip

whenever i open a memo after claiming ownership with ChanServ, the whole pchum app closes and i have to drop the memo/channel in order to be able to open it again. it started to happen around the time 2.0.0 came out if i remember correctly and caused me to take a break in the hopes it'd be fixed but surprisingly it still happens. i don't even get an error message either, the whole thing just crashes and closes the whole app.

I appear to be trapped with the arachnidsGrip handle. I've tried redownloading, I've tried exiting and reopening, and at this point it feels like I've done what I can do alone. Can I get some help?

Hi! I want to know how to open the pesterchum applicatio.

What it says on the tin: the app (on Windows 10) keeps randomly shutting down. So far it has only happened to me when I was pestering someone. I had to open the app and connect again. I do not know what could have caused it or what information would be useful.

On linux the notification that appears when minimizing the application to the system tray cannot be clicked. It will continue to appear because you cannot click it.

whenever i try to log into my chumhandle (windows) it dosent let me log in and it just changes it to being pestercliet automatically

I'm more upset with the color issue. Outside of memos, noone's color accept mine shows up in chat. They can see my color, but they all show up as black and its upsetting... I can mostly deal with the name issue, if I close a pchum tab and try to sign back in it won't let me because my name is "taken" (and no I do not use canon handles) but this goes away if I turn my pc off and on again. or wait several hours. i can also just make a double accy anyway. just plz.... want color fix it's been bothering me for several days since I downloaded the thing.

If a quirk changes the letters in an emote, then the emote doesn't work, although not sure how easily fixable that is. Maybe some sort of blacklist for all the emote strings? Still loving the program though!! :DD
