steam-review-editor's Issues

Editor Update v1

This issue will track the main features being planned for the update. This list is by no means exhaustive, but should cover the main features/bugs to be resolved before release, including #2.

The existing site is outdated and being redone in React. The editor tool is also being changed due to difficulties in implementing certain community-desired features, namely tables.

  • Website design redone
  • Updated existing dependencies
  • Implemented toolbar with all official text formatting options
    • Enabled table functionality
    • Implemented [img] tags
    • Added new widgets (preview only since they're just links)
      • YouTube
      • Steam Store
      • Steam Community
  • Sync toolbar options with editor behaviour
  • Added Review preview
  • Added Raw markup preview
  • Enabled markup paste support
  • Responsive editor refactoring

Editor Optimization - Removing this as a goal for v1.

Minimum target will be under 5s load time on average device.

Preview is slightly different than my Steam review appeared.

Hello!
First of all, thanks for this awesome project!

I used your website and I just noticed that the appearance between your preview and the review as it appeared after posting it in Steam were not the same. Look at the spacing right after the first bolded paragraph.

I suspect this is because of the combination of bolding and header format.

Here is the markup code and entire review, as made by your website:

Thanks again, and I hope to use your website in the future!

Add support to edit an existing review (loading markup)

The tool is great to write a new review. But is it not possible to load existing markup and then re-edit it.

A side-by-side view that displays both the WYSIWYG editor and the generated code editor would be perfect. Editing the WYSIWYG content should auto-update the "plain text" view and vice-versa.

Link not working

This might be client-side for me, or better yet just me being stupid cuz I'm not too familiar with this site, but when trying to use the link to the website app (http://dons20.github.io/sre), it says the page doesn't exist or rather, "There isn't a GitHub Pages site here." I ended up just installing the css zip file myself in which it worked fine then (looks great and performs stupendously btw).

View scrolling

When I start scrolling down as I build my content, the toolbar disappears off the top of screen. Hope that's dead easy to fix. thanks in advance.

bug table

Impossible use table, i no see my table after choice size

Clear/erase button

Can you change the text label on the "reset to default" button, to just say "Erase".
There is no separator bar between that button and the other buttons which all control formatting, this button is NOT a formatting button at all, so it's misleading and needs to have a toolbar spacer between it and the other buttons. Maybe the icon should just be an eraser, maybe, but a separator and a label change would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for a great helper tool, speeding up the editing job hugely already.

Preview - Text Imported from Google Docs Display Error (Workarounds Included)

Hey! Thanks for making this tool!
I'd just like to report an issue I've been having with it.

Text Copied and Pasted from Google Documents will have the text shown on the review writing field and review preview display appear with chosen coloured text in Google Docs.

Example with black coloured text (default to Google Docs):

Example with white-coloured text (attempt to solve the issue):

(Don't mind the red underlines, Grammarly put them there because I put goofy text)

Though the white text does solve the issue for the preview, it also makes it very difficult to use the edit field for formatting purposes.

But I think I might have found a workaround. By using a shade of grey, the text is somewhat visible in the typing field and has better visibility in the preview field. (Examples below)

I'm also quite sure why the markdown preview tab puts a [/spoiler] at the end of every line, but I think this might not affect the result.
(I tried pasting centre-aligned text and left-aligned text to see if it would make a difference, but the [/spoiler] markdown still shows up, I'm not quite sure what causes it, might be related to Google Docs itself)

I'd like to thank you once again for making this tool! Cheers!

Edit: Just found out that copying the text and pasting it into Notepad seems to resolve both issues. Whoops... Sorry!

Images & load from source code

Hey there.

This editor is fantastic. I really wish I had known about it before writing my workshop addon description.
Due to the lack of preview functionality in Steam, up to this point I have had to update my description and hope I've not made any mistakes in it.

One feature which would be really useful is the ability to copy & paste existing Steam markup into the editor.
This way, I can paste my addon's existing description into the editor and make some changes to it.

Also, could you possibly add support for the [img]https://i.imgur.com/pgpeH1I.gifv[/img] image tags?
