homebrew-chromium's Issues

Cask version of Chromium

Hello @DomT4, I hope you are well. I am not sure if you remember me, but I was a maintainer of Homebrew Cask when you were a maintainer of Homebrew.

Firstly, I wanted to let you know that the main Cask version of Chromium is now versioned and has checksum verification.

Secondly, I recently added a binary stanza to the main Cask version like in your own version:

binary "#{appdir}/Chromium.app/Contents/MacOS/Chromium", target: 'chromium'

but this did not work as expected -- calling chromium via bash results in:

-bash-5.0.16- /Users/miccal (33) [> chromium
Abort trap: 6

and the following dialog appears:

I was wondering if you had come across this issue yourself?

Thank you.

README feedback

When reading the README, I had some questions that you may want to add to the README.

  1. Which Chromium channel are you tracking? Stable, Beta, Dev, Canary, latest?

  2. Is the preferred way to install using the regular (non-cask) method? It seemed like the regular method could do automated updates? There were no instructions on how to do that in the README, for newbies. Something like:

brew install domt4/chromium/chromium
brew linkapps chromium
brew upgrade

Google API keys missing?

I get this everytime I launch Chromium. It's probably the reason I cannot log in to Chromium ...

Is there a way to fix this?

Release management clarification

Hi, Dominyk!

First of all, thank you for your valuable and a little bit tedious work on Homebrew!

Back to the issue, could you clarify this tap's release management? Do you try to stick to stable, beta, dev, or canary releases (I know there's no one-to-one mapping in continuous builds)?

I'm using Chromatic GUI now which isn't ideal as it needs some manual maintenance so I'm seeking an alternative with a stable version compiled by dev source (i.e., no freesmug).

Automatically update daily

Hi, question; do you run the 'brew upgrade domt4/chromium/chromium' manually or have you already made a script (to run daily as a LaunchDaemon) that runs 'brew update', checks if a new version is available, checks whether Chromium is not running and runs 'brew upgrade domt4/chromium/chromium' ?

Thought i'd ask before making a script... /lazy :) if you already have one perhaps you can share it.

Thanks!
