This is not really an issue, I just wanted to tell you that I tested fakesteak on FreeBSD with the vanilla st terminal, and it works fine.

Not quite sure where things go wrong, but if the terminal window becomes too small (for example, 18x36 cells), then everything explodes. And by explodes, I mean that we seem to go into an endless loop.

not an issue, just compatibility feedback: works in Windows under WSL2 just fine.

While this works very well in urxvt, it flickers very noticably in all other terminals I've testet it in (xterm, lxterm, uxterm). The other matrix projects use ncurses, so if we could figure out what ncurses is doing (and how) to avoid this issue, then we should be able to replicate that.

I can only assume it has something to do with buffering, printing, clearing the screen or any combination of those. But so far, all my experiments haven't solved the issue.

I'd definitely appreciate some advice from someone more knowledgeable in this regard.
