abap-code-search-ui's Issues

Option: use search queries from previous search

Hi Ludwig,
first of all - thanks for the tool, it's a great help.

What would you think about an option to keep the input from the previous search?
A similar option exists for the standard ADT Object search (CTRL+SHIFT+A), the option is called "Use Pattern from Previous Search":

image

Specifically, I'm talking about the search pattern, object name and filters.

I'm not sure how difficult this would be to achieve and it's not super important, just a nice quality of life feature (If you have any pointers, I could even take a look myself ).

Thanks.

Show the entity name of types DDLS (e.g. I_Product instead of I_PRODUCT)

Proposal

Return entity names (in DDL source) instead of uppercase DDL name.

Target Behavior

There are two possible options to realize this new feature:
1. The type icon stays the same (i.e. D - DDLS), only the display name will be that of the entity
2. The type icon for STOB (i.e. entity) shall be used so it matches the entity name

Requirements

  • Backend needs to be enhanced to read the additional name if requested
  • An additional field may be necessary so both the entity name (for display) and the internal DDLS name can be returned to the UI

Display matching string as tooltip in search result

Hi Ludwig,

thanks for your great work! I would like to suggest you an improvement in the search results.

When using the function Get Where-used List, the results are displayed with the possibility to display the entire matching statement in a tooltip:

When using a multiline regex search pattern, only the first line is displayed as result. Would it be possible to display the matching string as a tooltip as well?

Example:

  • Search query:
    image

  • Search results:
    image

  • When jumping to the search result, the found string is highlighted.

Last match of object not removed when package hierarchy is off

If the option Group by package is switched off in the result view the last match of an object (e.g. a class) will stay in the view if the action Remove selected Matches was executed. Only after switching the Group by package-feature on again can the last match be removed

New Feature Idea: Enable posibility to export the search results in Excel Format

Hello Ludwig :)
I would like to enable the possibility to have an option in the ABAP Code Search (Search view) in Eclipse to export the findings/search results to an Excel file.

Reasons:

  • in many cases is needed to perform usage analysis of certain used objects into a system, then export the results locally in an Excel file and then enhance the data with additional information which help in fullfiling the desired analysis. Such analysis can be a code review, performance analysis etc.

Possible Excel Format structure can be seen in the attached excel template.
Idea Code Search Results export.xlsx

Thank you so much in considering this new feature which from my point of view will create a lot of added value.
Regards,
Cata
