dirty-reprojectors-app's Issues

Enable variables for editing for various projections

Right now the front-facing site doesn't really work for Spherical projections if you want to have a geojson that's not focused on Africa.

From a quick look, it looks like we could do this through D3 by allowing the user to edit a projection's centerpoint or otherwise rotate the input. It'd be up in @anandthakker's alley to better determine how long this would take to build in.

This functionality could fit in pretty well with the current design in an additional box that pops up under the projection selection if the selected projection can use it. Could either be a text field if integers work, or a slider if we need to restrict the numbers.

Not a priority for deployment. This is something folks can do via hacking into the CLI, but would be a nice feature to have eventually nonetheless.

Zoom to bounds

If you choose the US or upload your own geojson that's not a national level geojson, it can be hard to locate if you choose a different projection and zoom in.

  1. choose US bounds
  2. zoom in a few levels
  3. switch to another projection

I think it would be nice to zoom to the newly projected bounds when switching projections so you're not left looking at an empty map.

Albers USA Projection Behaving Wierdly

Choosing the AlbersUSA will 80% of the time halt the updateGeojson script, leaving the previous geojson there. The graticule still updates fine.

Not sure where the hiccup is happening, and I don't recall seeing it earlier when testing the default geojsons.

File upload error

Uploading an invalid file (eg. CSV) results in an eternally spinning spinner.
Instead, it would be helpful to provide an error message to the user that the app expects a valid GeoJSON.

Makin' it Mobile Friendly

For mobile:

  • Drop upload/download functionality
  • Stack up that interface
  • Disable the larger preset geojsons

Backlog

@DylanMoriarty @anandthakker is there a backlog here, or are we ready to start talking about this? If there is an immediate backlog, it'd be helpful to list it here or as separate tickets.

Fix Travis

Deployment still throwing Skipping a deployment with the script provider because this branch is not permitted. Try out a freshly encrypted token, then investigate deploy scripts to see if the bug is there.
