Looking at the source, it seems like the images get matched by attachment _id that should be og_image but it's actually unclear how to achieve attachment having that sort of ID. Any pointers?

In particular, Twitter has its own set of proprietary tags that allow customizing the look of the shared links even further.

So I learned that SVGs can't be used as og:image but this plugin doesn't filter them out.
I think that it should do something about it. The first step may be emitting a warning during the build. Then, it could attempt converting SVG to PNG maybe. ImageMagic is often available on build machines so maybe using PIL/Pillow can do the trick.
