regie's Introduction

regie

npm version Build Status Coverage Status dependencies Status GitHub license

An observable state management tool for vanilla JS applications based on Proxies

Example

const regie = require('regie')

const initialState = {
  items: []
}

const { state, observe } = regie({ initialState })

observe(state.items, (newValue, change) => {
  console.log(`new value is ${newValue} with change:`, change)
})

state.items.push('first!')

Installation

npm i regie

Usage

observe function accepts many forms, including a string path and a predicate. All of the following are the same:

const regie = require('regie')

const initialState = {
  items: []
}

const { state, observe } = regie({ initialState })

observe(state.items, handler)
observe(state => state.items, handler)
observe(() => state.items, handler)
observe('items', handler)

const items = state.items

observe(items, handler)
observe(() => items, handler)

regie also allows you to watch primitive values in a certain form. The following examples observe the future first element of the array:

observe(() => state.items[0], handler)
observe('items.0', handler)

and the following examples observe even farther into the future details of the first element of the array:

observe(() => state.items[0].name, handler)
observe('items.0.name', handler)

regie's Issues

Implement VS Code code completion for actions and mutations

Actions and mutations are passed in at regie initialization, but are modified (bound with state scope) and actual actions and mutation functions are returned. Can we use generic types to create types for these on the fly and provide code completion support?

In the following example,

const { actions } = regie({
  actions: {
    increment () {}
  }
})

actions.increment()

typing actions. should present a correct list of all the actions passed in. @ustun

Feature Request: Ability to store Map<>

I’d like to store state for dictionaries, if possible. I want to store static lists that vary by an input key.

I’m guessing the limitation is how you’re cloning the object.

Suggestions? Maybe outside intended use.

Thanks!
