openlager's Issues

Openlager blinking RED LED and no files

Hi,
I just bought and connected an Openlager to my FETTEC G4-N FC. Upon applying power, grenn LED goes ON and RED LED goes on, blinking with a certain pattern. However no files are created on SD Card.
The RED LED blinking pattern stays ON forever (until power removal that is); it is present whether there is an SD Card installed or not; I've tried the recommended SD Card, and other SD cards (to up to 64GB) but nothing works. I've tried putting the lager.bin file on the SD cards, but nothing changes, same behaviour. It's like the Openlager is not reading the SD cards...any ideas? Need help!
Thaks in advance

Flashing Openlager via FTDI ?

@mlyle or @droidicus

I have here an Openlager that did not work properly for me since the beginning.
It did put the lager.cfg on the card ... but only created empty log files.

So I copied the Lager.bin from "openlager_firmware_20160629" to the card, and tried to flash it with that.
(...a few more words about the "update process" would have been nice...).

I supplied it with 5V, the green LED was on all the time and the red one blinked a few times. I waited for 2 minutes.

But now it does not react at all. Only the green LED is on but the red one stays off and nothing is written to the card.

The same card works fine with another Openlager, which is why I exclude it as a source of error.

Is there a possibility to flash the µC via FTDI?

kind regards
Robert

Does 4 bit mode really work ? It is turned off in openlager.c's sd_init() call

I found that my openlager running an image built from this Github source has a "false" parameter to the sd_init() call in openlager.c, and that means "don't use fourbit mode". Is it turned off for a reason ? I flipped it to true and can log for a while, but then it hangs. Is that because the HW reference design only has a 47K pullup on SDIO_D0 ? The other pins seem to have the pullups in the STM32 GPIOs turned on, but perhaps they are too weak for 19.2MHz.

Problem with Openlager

Sorry for posting it as a issue here but i cant find any detailed informations on the web.

i got a openlager from a buddy for logging a Betafpv Toothpick F722 2-6S AIO Brushless Flight Controller 35A(BLHeli_S) which dont offer storage...

I soldered 5V, GND and TX6 from FC to RX on openlager.
In Betafligth i configured UART6 as Blackbox logger ans 2000000 baud, ans Serials Logger, 2khz and Gyro_Scaled in the Blackbox section.
Should be ok...

I tried multipe SD Cards from Class4 over U1 32GB to U3 64GB A2 V30.... also tried all formats FAT/FAT32
Nothing works...

If i Power the FC the green LED on Openlager lit up correctly but the red LED (should be for write process?) never lit up.

Can anybody discripe how it should look like if it will work?

Help diagnosing if working?

Hi I've been trying to connect an OpenLager (purchased through Amazon.com) to a MATEKF405 running Betaflight 4.1.1.
No joy. I'm beginning to suspect maybe a problem with Betaflight, or my FC, but it would be nice to know OpenLager is working.
I bought a DigitalLogic analyser, but my FC doesn't seem to be trying to pull voltage low on the TX UARTS when they are set to Blackbox (ok, there is actually a single pulse on board startup, but nothing after that).
If I get a USB -> UART bridge, is it somehow possible to write data to the openlager unit from my laptop?

--- more detail on my betaflight setup ---
I get a zero-byte LOG000.TXT file each time I power up the flight controller.
I have betaflight set up to activate BB logging when armed.
Arming / disarming does not create a new file. Only powering the board creates a new file.
I've tried numerous different baud rates and 2 different TX pads on my FC (obviously updating the LAGER.CFG file).
Changing preallocGrow=true causes a 105mb log file to be written (assuming related to the preallocBytes : 104857600 setting). Obviously I can't parse this file.

Many thanks!

improvement - flush & new file

First, let's say this logger is great and support much higher logging rate than its openlog counterpart. I've been looking for it for a very long time. Radio link to log were so-so, and openlog was too slow.

There are few pin which seems not used when using the UART connexion ; Is there any possibility to use one pin to force flush of current log and stop log when toggled to 0, and start a new file when toggled back to 1 ?
Currently, I added one wire which is doing it in a tiny hole nearby TP2 (might be a reset pin?). But that is certainly not the best way to do even if it works.

Another side remark: green led is too bright compared to red one. Red led is the one which provide useful information in the field, but I can hardly see it.

uupd.bin

Hi

my lager worked fine all along, but now suddenly it just writes a uupd.bin file on the sd and nothing else ... ?
It also deletes my lager.cfg file.
Help :-(

Jan

Witch firmware shold I flash?

Hello guys, I make a openlarger hardware ,but I don't know witch firmware should I flash ?
bootlager.bin , ef_lager.bin , lager.bin
witch one should I flash?
I want use this hardware for the BF's blackbox recoder . Use serial to communication.
