php-app-server's Issues

Mac OSX 12.0 Monterey no longer includes any flavor of PHP

Relevant Apple developer forums thread: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/681907

Not sure how to fix this. Some possible options:

  • Alert the user that PHP needs to be installed on the system AND made available on the system PATH before the app installer will run.
  • Automatically install Homebrew + PHP + autolink PHP into the path if PHP does not exist. Or at least figure out how to ask first before installing it.
  • Bundle and distribute some precompiled binary version of PHP similar to how the Windows builds work. The result would be larger downloads and increased hardware and OS incompatibilities. Also, everyone making apps in PHP App Server would have to build PHP from source on expensive Mac OSX hardware that not everyone can afford.

All of those options seem like the wrong thing to do here. Apple removing preinstalled PHP from the system also seems like the wrong thing as well. Python, Ruby, and Perl are still deployed on Mac OSX but I've seen some information recently that those are eventually going away as well.

I'm open to both ideas and assistance here.

Unable to Start PHP App Server on Apple M1 MacBook

Dear Cubiclesoft,

I hope this issue finds you well. I'm reaching out regarding a critical issue reported by our Senior DevOps Engineer, Elliot Clover, who's been working with our PHP app named Nexus that's been packaged by PHP-app-server. Elliot encountered the following error message on an Apple M1 MacBook running the latest update:

Unable to start the web server portion of Nexus. Contact the developer of the application. Error 104

This issue is hindering the smooth operation of the app on the specified environment.
the app won't load the contents of the /www/ folder and only produces the aforementioned error message and closes.

Environment:
Operating System: macOS Ventura 13.3.1 on Apple M1 MacBook
PHP Version: 8

Logan Flagg
