ctag-face-2-4's Issues

Beaglebone Black Wireless fails to boot after custom device tree blob change (+ connection issues with the other Beaglebone models โ†’ scroll down)

Let's start this issue where the other one ended: I'm trying to get the AD1938 working with a BeagleBone Black Wireless. I flashed the BBBW with a recent official BBBW image and tried to use the custom device tree blob presented in this repository. However after changing uEnv.txt my BBBW refuses to boot.

When adding/substituting (I tried both) this line:
dtb=am335x-bonegreen-ctag-face.dtb
The BBB won't boot and gets stuck with the usr0 led blinking

I get the same thing when using the given quick start image by the way.

When adding/substituting (I tried both) this line as well as the above:
uname_r=4.1.18+
The BBB won't boot and gets stuck with all usr leds on forever.

I first tried to do these adaptations with the OS on the SD-card. Then I also tried to copy the OS to the internal memory first and then doing the adaptations, but (as expected) no change there, so that's not the issue.

Any ideas on what's going wrong?
How long should I wait with the led blinking until giving up, my last attempt ran for an hour and a half... What's the booting time of a working solution?

Different board designs?

I'm trying to work out how to setup a CTAG face cape (as sold by Bela) in a non-standard way. As my enclosure does not have space to stack the boards I wish to mount side by side with connectors between the headers of the Beaglebone Black and the headers of the CTAG face cape. To do this I require a pin out or schematic for the CTAG face.
The CTAG hackaday page directed me here but after getting confused over the schematic it seems the files here relate to a different board or an older revision. Is that the case?
I've been looking but this github repo is all I can find, are the drawings for the newer board somewhere else or are they closed source?

Capture channels in amixer

I've made great progress :)

My custom hardware gets recognised, but the amixer command yields some surprising settings.

How are the capture channels configured? I'm getting two ADC's as expected, but they seem to be configured as playback channels and the four DAC channels seem to be configured as both playback and capture channels.

Is this normal?

Also, all inputs and outputs seem to be permanently off, I've tried changing this with numid cset ... but my commands seem to be ignored... What is the regular way to make these work? Might be a fault in my hardware too ;)

Kernel compilation error

I'm trying to compile the kernel for a Beaglebone Black Wireless on a Ubuntu 14.04 machine. When trying to compile the kernel I get this error:

Makefile:660: Cannot use CONFIG_CC_STACKPROTECTOR_STRONG: -fstack-protector-strong not supported by compiler

Any ideas on what is going wrong?

I've also tried the quick setup SD image, but my Beaglebone Black Wireless won't boot with that image...
