A little too late, but I still couldn't quite get my tableau data imports working and was wondering if anyone had this problem (I read the other issues and they helped with some issues).
After header modifications, line 1 looks like this:
"314343478 20040919 200409 2004 2004.7096 AFR AFRICA AFR CHN CHINA CHN 0 061 061 06 2 6.4 30 1 30 1.21802679658952 1 China CH CH 35 105 CH 1 China CH CH 35 105 CH 1 China CH CH 35 105 CH 20140917 http://one.trust.org/item/20140917114116-76mpv/?source=jtTheWire&c=sJbV8fYxw5s8A8rdz-4Zj2q769iZlGXfrJ50FsH9_bQ&mkt=en-us"
Although Tableau is finding the field names, it isn't organizing the data into measurements and dimensions correctly and a lot of fields seem to just have null data (even when I try to manipulate it). I've looked at this for quite some time, so please let me know if you have any tips! Thanks.
When I extracted the raw data file into Tableau, Tableau did not recognize any of the field names. When I try to examine the export file in my terminal, I don't get the field names like I the assignment says I'm supposed to. Instead, I get the first row of actual data:
Is there something I'm missing? Should I go ahead and rename the fields in Tableau?
I downloaded the previous days csv file, but when I import to data into tableau, the columns have no names. Do I have to manually name all the fields? The instructions for the checkpoint simply say to import the data. Would really appreciate some help. Thank You.
I am looking at the graph provided by Checkpoint 5 and it seems to be listing all records as opposed to just ones with null values for longtitude. When I tried to find the null values in the dataset I got about 112 records, if yours is true, you seem to have 10,000s of null values which isn't the case for me.
When I extracted the raw data file into Tableau, Tableau did not recognize any of the field names. Should I go ahead and rename all of the fields (is that part of the assignment) , or have I made a mistake in importing the file?
