Now that DBTNG is out of Drupal, it no longer has simpletest. In light of existing schema issues Drupal is facing with PostgreSQL and SQLite. Should would conceive a test system within the framework that can ensure the way DBTNG i intended to work?

are you still interested to continue development on this project?
I think it is currently behind the status of the db engine in D8. Can I say, 3 years behind? (that's the latest commit, says the project page)

Currently, its is quite messy that some methods allow chain and others don't.

Suggestion: add* methods are not chainable, all others are.

This is already true for most part but join() is the big exception :)

This is imho currently one of the most confusing parts about the whole system.
