geoss's Issues
Working within the GEOSS framework
WP2: Track relevant policy developments at the international level (GEOSS)
WP3: Two broad classifications of services will be provided – Sensor Web Enablement Services and Middleware Services. Open technologies and standards will be adhered to, particularly those underpinning SDI and specifically GEOSS.
WP4: Task 4.1 will also interact with WP3 to ensure development is architecturally consistent and interoperable with the Citizen Observatory Framework and will deploy to the greatest extent compatible with the Project goals the standards of the Open Geospatial Consortium as adopted for the European INSPIRE spatial data infrastructure and the Global Earth Observation System of Systems.
WP7: (7.1)Working within the GEOSS framework, establish a suite of common methodologies, standards and guidelines for data archiving, discovery and access for use by the World Network of Biosphere Reserves
T7.1: Engage with the GEOSS framework as directed by the Commission and as specified in the work programme “…consortia will be required to cooperate within an open e-collaboration framework to establish common methodologies and standards for data archiving, discovery and access within the GEOSS framework..”. As WP Leader and Coordinator, UEDIN will lead this task with support primarily from OGCE and SECD. We
will seek synergies with other GEOSS related activities that OGC leads or is involved in, eg, Architecture Implementation Pilot (AIP).
See also WP9: should be made available through the Global Earth Observation System of Systems without any restrictions”. This work package, in conjunction with WP2 (stakeholder engagement), will seek to use GEOSS and the World Network of Biosphere Reserves (WNBR) as a springboard to maximizing the use of COBWEB technology and data without any restrictions
See also WP5: data collected within the successful projects has to be accessible
within the GEOSS framework without any restrictions. However, projects are also required to
attend to questions of data privacy.
Suggested technical solution for WP3 and WP7: register the various portal catalogs (and the optional COBWEB catalog) (using OGC CSW 2.0.2) so that the observations (using SOS or WFS services, observations expressed as O&M) can be harvested by GEOSS.
Attend the OGC TC & GEOSS (symposia, workshops and plenary) meetings
COBWEB participating in AIP (Already done in AIP-6 for access federation)
