This is somewhat related to issue #111. I created the release somewhere that had unproxied access to the internet and then I tar'd the folder up and moved it to a server without internet (but does have access via squid proxy) to do upload the release to a bosh. The errors above are when I try and upload the release after unpacking the tar.gz file. I think the issue in #111 of scripts not honoring proxy would make this issue irrelevant.

@cwb124 : Hi I had the same issue while Creating Release. Got it working by following below method

1. Remove folder "app-autoscaler-release"
2. Clone it again "git clone https://github.com/cloudfoundry-incubator/app-autoscaler-release"
3. Follow the steps mentioned in document https://github.com/cloudfoundry-incubator/app-autoscaler-release
