organise-clojurebridge-london's Issues

Clojure course - only one class level for students

In the Clojure course definition there is only one level of experience the students can choose - other programming experience.

Some of our students have no programming experience, so we should have a level for that

Perhaps also a level for those with functional programming experience.

Attend Codebar event - promote ClojureBridge London

John posted a message in the #london-chapter of the codebar slack channel about ClojureBridge.

It would be helpful to visit a Codebar event and mention the ClojureBridge event to that community in person.

Promote event to Clojure community

Promote the ClojureBridge event to the Clojure community

  • Add event to ClojureBridge London website
  • Add to Clojure.org events
  • Email London Clojurians mailing list
  • Post details of event to Clojurians Slack community #events and #clojure-uk
  • Publish meetup page - but with BridgeTroll sign-up

Create a Clojure Showcase website

A website that will show off the amazing things that can be done with Clojure / ClojureScript.

Should include embedded examples and videos.

Also curate some of the best projects and tutorials

Reivew Maria.cloud 'Learn Clojure with Shapes' curriculum

Should we include the Maria.cloud Learn Clojure with Shapes curriculum in the next ClojureBridge London event, especially for those completely new to coding.

Or should we create our own content on Maria.cloud in the same vein?
Or adapt some / all of the content on the current ClojureBridge London workshop

Maria.cloud does abstract away a few things, including a feature to show much more meaningful error messages for beginners. I think Maria.cloud could be a good 'day one' experience for ClojureBridge students who are completely new to coding, depending on the quality of the curriculum content.

Create new ClojureBridge London website

Create a new website using Clojure. As the site will not have any persistent data, but should be responsive design and nice to have a single page app.

Suggest a ClojureScript application using the Figwheel.main template and reagent library. The application should have unit tests and have a CircleCI project to run tests on pull requests and other commits.

The style of the website should be built with a CSS framework such as Bulma or Bootstrap.

Content ideas can come from http://www.railsbridge.org/learn and the original ClojureBridge London website (especially from Friday section).

Suggested sections for the site include:

  • current event
  • ClojureBridge aim
  • past events writeup
  • student info
  • coach info
  • organising an event info
  • image gallery
  • Clojure/Script showcase
  • Contact organisers

Ideally the creating of should a website should be documented as a project in the ClojureBridge London workshop.

BridgeTroll Student RSVP for includes a long list of options for Operating Systems

ClojureBridge doesnt need a long list of Operating systems, although it may be useful to ask Linux, Windows or Mac. Also useful to ask if students have used any of the recommended editors, Atom, VSCode, Emacs or IntelliJ with an option for none.

This may require creating a ClojureBridge London specific course for BridgeTroll
