Development

Install Project Dependencies

To set up the development environment for this website, you'll need to install the following on your system:

  • Node v8.11 (To manage multiple node versions we recommend nvm)
  • Yarn or Npm Package manager

Install Application Dependencies

If you use nvm, activate the desired Node version:

nvm install

Install Node modules:

yarn install

or

npm install

Once the dependencies are installed, you can run:

yarn export

or

npm run export

This will build the navigation, build the optimized images, build the next app, and export this app as a static website into the /out folder, which can then be deployed. Once you have exported the app, you can test it locally by running:

yarn serve

or

npm run serve

Javascript configurations and environment variables

In order to run the app, you will need to provide a site url and a mapbox token, as well as a mailchimp address. You can do this via a .env.local file.

climatescope.org's Issues

58 markets

we still refer to 55 emerging markets...Can we replace with 58? this is on the main page, above "get results"

Change policy copy

Change number of policies from "more than 450" to "more than 800" on Homepage and Policies page.

Design Tweaks

  • New satellite header background image
  • Center intro hero contents
  • Tweak main menu responsiveness

Update download section

  • add new PDFs, excel files, etc
  • Copy change: Download page "Full report" text needs to be updated to say "2016". In "Model and data", "Excel" should be updated to say "Model".
  • Download buttons on summary pages should feature "Summary (PDF)" and "Full model (XLS)" instead of full model and "Raw data (CSV)" (we're working on the pdfs).

Update download section

"Download" page, this year we can remove the download by country function as we wont be producing .pdfs. And we can add the regional summaries for download.

Reorder download section

Could we re-order the download section. "By section" should be above "By region", and the order of the "By section" menu should be Executive summary, Parameter Summary, and Methodology.

Include intro video

  • Modal with video - for first time users (with action to close/skip modal).
  • “Watch the story unfold” button

Other regions

Could we add a "Other regions" menu in the right side of the page as we do on the topics

Contact us on Updates

on the "Updates" page, could we have a little field on the right saying that visitors should feel free to reach out to us if they have something they would like us to write about or to share?

Update pop up email form

Instead of video pop up we are updating the mail form:

"Welcome to Climatescope 2016
The Climatescope website will now be updated with new content throughout the year including our new off-grid renewable energy quarterly market outlook. Sign up here and be the first to discover new insights into clean energy in emerging markets."

Rounding of map and table

On the map, Uruguay is 3rd, Brazil 4th. On the table the other way around.

image

The actual scores are:

country,score
Brazil,2.29481601995964
Uruguay,2.28648567695329

@danielfdsilva You have a bit to look at this today?

Update license link

bottom right where we say "2012 - 2016 Climatescope. License." change to "2012 - 2016 Climatescope copyright and disclaimer: license."

Add logo's

Logos at bottom: let's create two categories. "Supporters" and "Previous supporters" with Fomin
We also might have to put the USAid logo. Will confirm shortly.
