Super Meat Boy Doesn't Launch When Pressing Start about libtas

Did you try to run the game natively ? Also, does it print anything on the terminal ?

This is what it said on the terminal after trying to click the start button on LibTAS

Try installing the packages libx11-xcb1 and libx11-xcb-dev

just tried that and it still said the same thing i also tried VVVVVV and it also got the same error.

I tried running the games normally without LibTAS and they both ran perfectly. I also tried installing all of the dependencies listed on the "Code" Page and all of them said that i already had the newest version (83 not upgraded) so i did sudo apt-get upgrade as well but that didn't help :(

One more thing is that i am using a Virtual Machine to do this so i'm not sure if that is causing any issues and i need to dual boot ubuntu and windows or something.

Oh i didn't see the mandatory dependencies at the bottom of the Code Page Ill try to install them and ill edit this post if it worked or didn't work

I have a good idea for this repository, what if you provide a link to a premade virtual machine with all of the correct dependencies and LibTAS Installed On it. That way for people using windows wont have to install everything themselves. Just an idea and i could also send you my virtual machine if i get it working then you could post the link or something.

Can't get it to work even tried to install Ubuntu on my actual computer still got the XGetXCBConnection error. am i supposed to install XGetXCBConnection or something? i also tried VVVVVV again and it said i'm missing a library but i'm not. Sorry i'm replying so much its just that its taking a while for you to respond.

I removed the use of XGetXCBConnection. You should be able to run the game by compiling from the latest version.

YES! that fixed the problem but now it just says "couldn't connect to socket." when trying to start it up

nvm it was just my version of super meat boy because i tried VVVVVV again and it worked perfectly except for when it started it said VVVVVV has stopped responding but if you click Wait it continues anyways. Also i don't know where to get a drm-free version of super meat boy without re buying it. because i already have the game on steam but i can't find it anywhere online so if you know where i could get a copy by like converting my steam version somehow that would be great! Thank you so much for you're help i'm going to spread the word about this application! 😃

You can buy a drm-free version of Meat Boy on the Humble Store. Also, I think Meat Boy is one of the games that you can launch with Steam closed and it will work (and won't launch Steam). At least it works that way for the Windows version.

Sorry that i keep saying issues but there is another issue with VVVVVV where when you load a save state it freezes the game but again it might just be my version of it.
