Automount network shares require authentication on reboot

Extension works great except for one issue. Automount volumes (AFP - added to
login items) require authentication upon reboot when using nosleep-extension.
This, essentially, stops the startup process until lid is open and shares are
authenticated. Automount does not require authentication without
nosleeo-extension.

Thanks!

Keyboard back light does not turn on

NoSleep 1.3.0 on MacBook Pro running Lion 10.7.3

After reopening the clam shell, while running on AC, the keyboard back light
does not turn on. Pressing any key or operating the trackpad does not relight
the keyboard.

Documentation seems to be lacking

My 17" macbook with Snow Leopard sometimes goes to sleep when removing the
power adapter after a restart, even though NoSleep is active. I'm not sure if
this is an issue or if I'm doing something wrong.

I assume the way that NoSleep works is that you can click preferences and then
choose which type of power (battery or ac adapter) that you wish to use when
closing the lid on your macbook, and then you click the ZZ icon in the menu bar
once so it turns blue to "activate" it - but I didn't see this documentation
anywhere on the website and so when I'm experiencing the aforementioned issue I
can't easily tell if I'm doing something wrong or not.

A note to others: If you are experiencing this issue it seems that opening the
NoSleep preferences and then unchecking and re-checking the option(s) you want,
followed by clicking (to disable) and then re-enabling (blue icon) NoSleep
seems to fix this problem sometimes. Other times I need to restart the computer
again.

Consider Making NoSleep Require Another Click to Turn Off

A single click on the menubar icon is all it takes to turn NoSleep on or off.
While this is convenient, is dangerous. There have been times that I intended
to click the menubar icon next to NoSleep, but missed and hit NoSleep instead.
The machine instantly shuts off, and I have to wait until I return home to open
the lid and wake the machine back up.

Would you consider making it just one click more to turn NoSleep off? Either by
adding a Turn NoSleep On/Off item to the drop down (and making a click on the
menubar icon activate the drop down like most icons do, rather than
right-click), or at least by popping up a confirmation dialog when turning it
off?

Sincerely,
   Ben Spaulding

Start disabled

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Have launch at startup enabled
2. Restart mac
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I would like it to start disabled and be able to enable it if I like. I see no
option to do this. Even if you disable launch at startup, only the menu icon
does not show but it still does not sleep at lid close!

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

version 1.2.1 with Lion 10.7.3 on early 2011 MBP

Allow the user to prevent sleep for a specified amount of time after the lid is close

I often close the lid of my laptop while I walk to another room, and then
re-open it, and it's annoying to have the laptop sleep and lose its wireless
connection. On the other hand, if I have the lid closed for over 5 minutes, I
probably want the laptop to sleep.

If I could merely delay sleep for X minutes instead of disabling it completely,
it would be much better.

A distressingly arkward sentence is the most visible language in the program

Open the NoSleep preferences.

You are greeted by a problematic piece of English that doesn't *quite* parse
grammatically. I'd suggest something to the effect of 'NoSleep allows you to
prevent your computer from going to sleep when its lid is closed.' as a
replacement, but the issue could probably do with some more thought. You could
just get rid of it altogether.

Version 1.3.0

I'd suggest more rigorous language checking, or a proofreader or something, but
this sentence appears to be the only remotely lengthy piece of language in the
whole program, so it's not likely to continue to be an issue.

Installed on 10.6.8, Cannot Uninstall

Help!

I've installed this on my MacBook Pro under 10.6.8. Have tried installing
1.2.1, 1.3.0, and 1.3.1, and all are causing issues with other programs on my
system. I really want to uninstall this, but when I run the uninstaller, it
will ask for a password, and when I enter it, it says it is not the password.
But it is! Help, I am quite desperate to get my computer working again. :(

Thanks!

Wake from sleep with external display on

The application is fantastic!

One quick question. Are you able to allow the user to put the machine to
sleep, and wake it up with the external display as primary display?

For instance, after watching a movie or downloading with the lid closed and
external display on, I actually put my machine to sleep using the Apple
Infrared Remote.

However, when waking the machine up using the remote, the external display did
not turn on.

I had to open the lid and then close it again to get the external display
working again.

Any thoughts or allowing for this option would be amazing!

Thanks :)

After uinstalll the fan still run on power

Have uinstall the nosleep thru the Uninstall.command file inside the dmg file.
When i close down the lid the machine go to sleep mode.
But the fan still run.
The fan only run if im connected to the power.
If the mac runs on battery i dont have this problem

You need to set the fan on max rpm before you try this.
If not you maybe cant hear the fan at all.
Im sure that this problem occour after i installed nosleep.
Since i use my mac daily and i "never" turn my mac off.
Normally just close the lid.
I just had nosleep installed for 5-10 minutes.

im afraid the the Uninstall.command file doesnt clean up everthing.

Im using the latest macbook air late 2011

Does not work with Mountain Lion and no power cord

This extension does not seem to be working with Mac OSX Mountain Lion (10.8).
Once the lid is closed (power cord UNPLUGGED) the system sleeps in 3-4 seconds.
Different energy combinations have been tried with no results. Of course, the
option "No Sleep with battery" has been ticked. I own a mid 2012 13" Macbook
Air, and I have just upgraded the system from Lion to Mountain Lion.
Thank you.

NoSleep breaks MacBook trackpad and Screen

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install NoSleep
2. Run NoSleep
3. Turn option "Start with computer startup"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

After rebooting the MacBook, NoSleep starts and when the lid is closed and
reopened, the screen will not come back on no matter what you do. A few reboots
lets the screen come back on but kills the track pad and you can't even use an
external mouse to move the cursor.
Booting into Safe Mode will allow the track pad to work again and an external
mouse to be used. From Safe Mode, you need to navigate to the Utilities Folder
to find Terminal. Start Terminal and then use the uninstall command file in the
NoSleep .dmg to uninstall NoSleep. Reboot the Mac and its back to normal.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

I'm using the latest version of NoSleep and OS X 10.7.3

Please provide any additional information below.

Better compatibility for OS X Lion and further testing before a release would
possibly avoid these kinds of issues

Leaving No Sleep activated all the time

Hello Pavel. What a great little piece of code you have created. I use it here
in the US on my min-2009 Macbook Pro. I also noticed the "Start No Sleep" box
doesn't stay ticked, but that's no problem, as it does survive a restart.

My question, which I know you've addressed to some degree elsewhere, regards
leaving No Sleep activated all the time, especially on AC. My reason is this:
prior to installing Lion on my MBP, and when waking from sleep, the fans always
defaulted to their slowest speed (at least on my Mac) of around 1900-2000 RPM.
With Lion, whenever the computer is put to sleep, whether for a minute or for
all night, the fans immediately ramp up to approximately 2780 RPM, then fairly
quickly ramp back down to the idle speed of around 2000 again. This does not
have to do with my system, as I tried it on a "virgin" Lion good drive, and the
results are precisely the same.

A computer engineer I know said it probably has to do with the older SMC system
of my Mac being told to do something different by the newer Lion cooling
protocols. It's not really a problem, but since leaving No Sleep on all a the
time prevents the rise and fall of the fans, I figure it's a bit less "wear and
tear" on them.

Attached is an iStat Pro snapshot of my MBP, with only Safari open as I write,
with temperatures and fan speeds.

Thanks for your advice.

Ric

Different icon in menu-bar

All the icons in my menu-bar are black and white, except for the nosleep
utility one. I would really like it if you could adopt the style used by the
app 'caffeine'. In this case that would mean that if nosleep is enabled the ZZ
icon is black. When disabled the ZZ's would be gray with a black outline.

And thank you for this very useful extension!

software update stops downloading when lid closed

The no sleep utility installed and runs on my MacBook Pro 13" without a
problem. However, when the lid is closed, although the computer does not
sleep, the front light does come on and for whatever reasons, the Apple
Software Update utility stops downloading. See attached performance monitor
graph. The dead region is with the lid closed. Note that although the
communication between Software Update and the server is really uneven, the red
line (i.e. number of packets) drops to zero when the lid is closed but is
non-zero otherwise.

Since this is my primary use case (i.e. to allow maintenance to happen without
the computer being open), it would be fantastic if no sleep could be configured
to allow updates to continue with the lid closed.

Disable sleep completely when lid is closed

I've a suggestion for an enhacement:
I've noticed that my macbook still goes to sleep when the lid is closed after
the specified time in system-preferences. I think this is a great idea.
But it would be nice to be able to activate NoSleep so it doesn't to to sleep
at all (lid open or closed). My idea was to add that behavior to NoSleep by
double-clicking the menubar item. If you only click it once it will only
prevent your computer from going to sleep when the lid is closed and still go
to sleep when it's been inactive for the specified time in system-preferences.
This could possible be implemented by creating an NSTask and using the "pmset
noidle" command.
Hope you like my idea and implement it soon! :)

I open the application. Then, I turn on NoSleep. Everything works well.

However, when I quit the app and I close the lid, the computer still doesn't go

Can it be possible that when the app is closed the system goes back to where it

VPN cuts out when I close the lid

Hello,

I really like NoSleep, your app is fantastic.

I have an issue with my VPN connection disconnecting when the lid is closed.

This is not a major drama, it's more of an inconvience.
Is there something I can do (like a setting) to prevent my VPN connection from
