Git using Rstudio

Researchers working with R do write code and benefit from using version control. As git is not the most straightforward environment to work with for non-IT specialists, this lesson provides a first introduction to git inside the Rstudio environment.

This lesson has been setup initially as part of the carpentry workshop June 12-13, 2018 in Brussels.

add allcontributors bot

Hi @tobyhodges
I'm trying to set this up https://allcontributors.org/docs/en/bot/installation
but I might not have enough permissions, could you help me?

UGent github global config in setup

When working with both UGent github enterprise and github.com alike, it is most advisable to use the UGent CAS as config --global user.name and user.email. When pushing to github.com, name resolution is apparently done based upon login info.

Including this lesson on the new community lessons page

@fmichonneau has updated the lesson template to enable support of Incubator lessons!

This update:

• Creates a top-of-page banner to indicate that this lesson is in the incubator (and not an official Carpentries lesson). This banner is in addition to the existing "lesson life cycle" banner that appears on some official Carpentries lessons (for example the geospatial lessons) to indicate whether lessons are pre-alpha, alpha, beta, or stable.

• Changes the license information to make it clear the copyright is not held by The Carpentries or any of its lesson programs.

• Replaces The Carpentries (or SWC/DC/LC) logo in the upper left hand corner of the template with The Carpentries Incubator logo.

@fmichonneau and I are happy to do the heavy lifting of bringing this template into your lesson repository (or helping you with the logistics if you'd like to try it yourself). Once this has been done, your lesson will appear on a "Community Contributed Lessons" page on The Carpentries website!

Please respond to this issue to let us know if you approve these changes. Please also indicate whether you would prefer to pull in the template update yourself, or would prefer @fmichonneau and I to take the lead on that. Looking forward to posting your lesson publically and getting the word out about this awesome resource!

Continue to add contributors

This issue is here to give us a specific place to talk to the all-contributors bot.
This is because we often need to add a contributor for a content suggestion, and the quickest way we know how to do this at the moment is to:

- Ask the all contributors bot to add the person for content
- Edit the README with the content link, and credit with the username + url 
that the all-contributors bot generates.

Don't ignore *.Rproj files

The most widely-used .gitignore template doesn't, because it is just as much project-, as it is user/computer- specific. Therefore, people who want to contribute to one's project should be able to clone the .Rproj file as well.
