Is there any particular reason for ar not being enabled? It would be very
useful, for example, for unpacking deb packages (i.e., debootstrap).

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Have busybox free version 1.20.2
2.Got notification of new installer, I have 4.1
3.Paid for the pro version, installed it.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
installed busybox and said it failed. I currently have 1.20.2 in /system/xbin.
Said it was null
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Busybox 1.20.2 installer 4.1 both free. Then bought installer pro version. then
the problem started. I have an Htc Evo 4g ( PC36100 ) hardware version 0004,
Android version 2.3.5. Rooted stock Rom with the latest OTA (Captain Throwbacks
) Amon-ra 4.3 recovery.
Please provide any additional information below.
The busybox 1.20.2 was with smart install, never had an issue. Now I don't
update to the paid version of the installer, even tho it prompts me to. When I
go into busybox, smart install ok. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Please
help. [email protected].

Hi, I'm working on building this app for F-Droid repository
(http://f-droid.org). We can build Busybox with the NDK for at least ARM , but
there is no source code for reboot.png, ls.png and toolbox.png. Do you know how
to allow these to be built with NDK , (cross compiler or chroot if not), or
could you provide a patch or branch that would allow the apps to function
without these programs? The same issue applies to Permissions Denied.

As enhancement, it would be great to add sendmail command to current busybox
command list.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install busybox normally.
2. adb shell
3. readlink
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
readlink applet should work
readlink: applet not found.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
9.6 busybox 1.21.1 with Jellybean 4.3 on a Nexus 4.
Please provide any additional information below.
I need readlink to use adbfs.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
su
mkfifo /cache/myfifo
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/cache/myfifo bs=1M count=1
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It actually seems to output 1 byte and doesn't wait for the fifo to be read.
Removing the last part "count=1" then works as should, but of course can't stop
it at a desired size.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. just install busybox
2. it reboots during install, normal or smart
3. when main screen shows up it reboots again and again
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
- a message like 'successfully installed' and device continue operating
normally but with advantages provided by busybox
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
- samsung galaxy s gt-i9003l gingerbread 2.3.6 stock rom rooted

- samsung galaxy tab 2 gt-i3110 cyanogenmod 7
- bluestacks rooted
- any android rooted device i tried (galaxy ace, lg, etc)
Please provide any additional information below.
- it seems it replaces some essential command with bugged version
- factory reset doesnt help since it only wipes data partition and busybox are
installed in readonly /system partition
- cannot use the device because is constantly rebooting and discharging
- the only fix is to reflash, root and start over again.. is really an annoyance

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Root your Micromax A60 device
2. Install busybox-installer (free version)
3. Only busybox 1.19.3 can be installed.
Attempt to install busybox 1.19.4 and higher yields following error message:

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Not really a bug, but a proposed enhancement: when busybox-android is installed,
two files are created in the root directory of the sdcard:
shell@mako:/ $ ls -l /mnt/sdcard/*eric*
-rw-rw---- root sdcard_r 849476 2013-12-21 15:36 stericson-ls
-rw-rw---- root sdcard_r 77352 2013-12-03 23:23 toolbox-stericson
Can busybox-android be configured to store these files somewhere else,
e.g. /mnt/sdcard/Android ?
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Application should not leave clutter (sorry :)) in the SDcard's root.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
shell@mako:/ $ busybox --help | head -1

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Installing any version of busybox.
2. Mouse cursor gets replaced by boot-loader image.
3. Further investigation shows that this is a fault in fbset binary.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Mouse cursor gets replaced by boot-loader image.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I even tried this version of busybox posted by Stericson:

when I run fbset in terminal I get :
fbset: can't open '/dev/fb0': No such file or directory
I think fbset is looking in the wrong path as fb0 in android is in
'/dev/graphics/fb0' not '/dev/fb0'

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install update through play store
2. Click on notification of new binary avaliable
3. Click install
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
What I expect is that no notification comes up after every update, but only at
updates that really have a new busy box binary.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I'm using the newest version at all times, on Android 2.3.6 rooted
Please provide any additional information below.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install Busybox and replace existing copy in /system/xbin
2. Run busybox fbset from command prompt
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It should be able to set the video resolution and color depth, but instead this
version spits out an error:
shell@android:/system/xbin $ fbset
fbset: applet not found
This causes a problem when certain Android devices boot up and try to set their
screen resolution and mouse cursor. In particular the Pivos XIOS DS box has
this problem.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
v8.6 (BusyBox v1.20.2-Stericson) on Android 4.0.3

Despite issue #6 states sendmail has been added to busybox for Android in 2012,
the command is missing from busybox v1.21-Stericson (2013.07) and
v1.22-Stericson (2014.1).
When will it be added again?
