i know those steps are intended for custom extensions, but i applied your steps to this extension

Firefox says "Cannot install, appears to be corrupt", when i dragged the xpi into about:addons.

Steps:

• Using Mozilla Light (that could be the problem)
  https://sourceforge.net/projects/lightfirefox/

• Download the crx

• Validated the crx with:
  https://www.extensiontest.com/

• Extracted the .crx

• Edited manifest.json, so it now contains:

• 7zipped the file (i don't how to put manifest.json at "root", as you stated.

• Dragged file into about:addons

• Got "corrupted" error.

Any suggestions?
