Firstly, thank you for this wonderful app that's on all of my Android TV's! Everyone always stops, stares, and remarks about how how awe inspiring the videos are. So I had a thought:

After seeing the recent update add in the videos location in the bottom corner, would it be possible do something similar with overlaid quotes?
Perhaps a toggle in the options to turn the feature on with an entry box for an xml feed?

I know it's rude to request features under the Issues tab, and please forgive me, but I just had to share the thought of having aerial videos with reddit's r/ShowerThoughts overlaid!

I'm trying to understand why my Philips tv doesn't play the HDR Videos.
I have the Philips Android TV model PUS8505 from last year.

1. The TV spec sheet says that it supports all the HDR formats and video formats including Dolby Vision, hdr10, hdr10+, hlg and vp9, avc and hevc codecs.

2. Netflix and other apps shows Dobly vision content perfectly and the TV shows a notification that Dolby vision is being used.

3. In the debug section of the app everything shows as True, but the HDR Videos are still black screen. The debug screen also shows that my tv is at 1080p at 60hz, maybe it has something to do with this? Although it is a 4k screen and as mentioned earlier Other video apps do support 4k content with Dolby Vision.

4. I've tested both the 1080p HDR stream and 4k HDR stream and both get black screen instead of the video and no Dolby vision notification is shown

Is there anything else that can be done? Or am I doomed to use SDR ?

It worked for a week or two before it started doing this, I assume it's related to when there was an update to the app, but I didn't keep track of when it started (sorry!)
I've manually started it to show what's going on and it worked much better than usual (but still failed). It goes to the daydream menu at the end because it only managed to crash itself this time instead of my entire TV.
I believe our TV is a Sony Bravia 4K Android TV, I could probably find more details if needed.

I apologize for such a question. But if there is an open source repository with gradle files, then perhaps there is a way to build an application from it?
I tried to build, but I get an error:

Hi, thanks for this great app - it's perfect for the new pixel tablet given it comes with a dock.
It would be nice to be able to blacklist certain locations, either by preselecting from an exhaustive list or (if the Apple API doesn't provide such a list) even just through a user defined regular expression.

I just got a new nVidia Shield. OS is updated to the latest avaiable verseion.
I downloaded AerialDream from the AppStore and it doesn't work at all.

I tried with different settings like 4k, 1080p and so on...
If I select "Start.." from the settings screen it just load for around 1 second and goes back to settings screen.
If I start screensaver from Android Settings nothing happens.

Any hints how to get it work?

I really enjoy Aerial Dream, it used to work perfectly on my old Android 6 TV (1080p only). Now, on a new model, I experience some crashes, and can't get the issue solved. Using latest version from Google Play.

• if ONLY 4k options are activated, Aerial Dream crashes on loading: black screen with text for about 20 seconds, then quits
• if BOTH 4k and 1080p options are active, this behavior happens sometimes (when a 4k video was selected, I guess)
• if ONLY 1080p videos are active, Aerial Dream loads most of the times within a few seconds and works flawlessly, until the first video stops. It will show the first frame of the second one, and display the description text on top of the old one; then, it freezes (but does not crash)
• if ONLY 1080p videos are active, sometimes, it just does not load (black loading screen) but does not crash either.

I'd really like to enjoy the screensaver on my new TV, ideally in 4k :) Any ideas?

While setting cache option at 4GB or 8GB is nice, it does not work properly.
It will cause some of the videos that were partially downloaded to loop continuously and will not go on to next video.
Cache option is nice to have, but please do not remove the option. See if it can get fixed.
Also would be nice to be able to set cache location.
I have a 4TB external drive connected to my nVidia Shield TV so I would love to set the cache location to that, then I wouldn't have to worry about a specific cache size option. The app defaults to some internal location.

I like AerialDream. However, it doesn't cover full screen of my Essential Phone. The status bar at the top and the bottom area for three system buttons are not filled with movies.

First of all I love using this screensaver on my 4K Android TV. Any chance for getting 4K videos?

I'm projecting this screensaver to my Chromecast device, but I can't project a screensaver, so I use "Test Settings" to play the videos.

In VideoController.loadVideo option is defined as:
String option = video instanceof Apple2015Video ? source_apple_2015 : source_apple_2017;.

That leads to 2018 and 2019 options ignored (unless they are disabled). E.g. if I disable 2017 source, and set 2019 to 4K HDR, I'll get Full HD SDR instead (default option).

Currently, the view is not fully immersive and keeps a border where the buttons are. Can this be enabled by default?

Like I said in the title, using a Bravia, looks gorgeous until the second video freezes. Clock still runs though.

On 1.6 and 1.7, most Aerials from the 2017 and 2018 collection will not load (1080 and 4K) and the app just says on "Loading Aerial...". I noticed this first on the Fire TV Stick (sideloaded) so decided to test on the Samsung Galaxy A40 I'm currently testing at work. The same issue occurs so it doesn't appear to be related to the Fire TV Stick.

1st off: Thx for this great app, seems to be the only one for AndroidTV and runs fine on my Sony Bravia XH90 ♥

When selecting 4k streams for each AppleTV year it only works once out of ~10 tests so I assume for some years the 4k streams are broken... As it does not display which year its currently trying to display I cant provide much more information :(

It works nicely on Google Nexus Player but some time ago I bought Xiaomi Mi Box (US version) and it seems doesn't work correctly.

Description:
It looks good in the beginning but after a few minutes I getting a lot of errors at bottom of the screen and as result device ceases to be responsive. Sometimes it just stops.

How to stop spam error notification:
Open app settings and click "Stop service".

Can you check that? I'd like to help with fixing the issue but I'm not Android developer.

I have an android tv and it has a very small amount of storage, if I could copy this app and its cache to my mounted external storage my space issues would be resolved.

RESOLVED once I enabled developer mode on my shield tv I was able to force instal ArialDream onto my mounted external storage, I set it to cache all and its already up to 7.5 gigs from yesterday basically the entire internal storage of my 2017 shield.

Background:
I want to be able to start the screensaver by simply opening the app.

Device:
Sony X900H TV

Reproduce:

1. Select "Test Settings"
2. Exit the app (press HOME on the TV remote)
3. Re-open the app

Expected:
Resume previous video or start the next one.

Actual:
Black screen that shows same location & video progress (stuck).

Notes:
Toggling video source between HD/4K does not affect the outcome.

Hi there,

Seems the clock is always on the same position, so I'm afraid of burning of my LED. Is it possible to slightly change its position (e.g. few pixels) with each new video?

It seems to be working fine when all years 2015-2019 are set to HD

When I Disable 2015 and set 2016-2019 to 4K then it only displays "Loading Aerial..."

If I enable 2015 and keep the rest to 4K, it looks like the 2015 images display but when it comes across the 4K, it just hangs on the 2015 image.

I've had this issue for a while and I've tried uninstalling Arial Dream, and I even factory reset my 2017 shield and still when I try to use arial dream at any resolution I either get frozen video or a green flashing with jerky video. I have a 4k tv plugged directly into the shield, is anyone else having this issue?

Play some audio (preferably user selected, from a local file or a url) while the screensaver plays.
It would be great if we could select the audio level to tune the sound. Something like lounge audio in the background. Subtle.

Cannot load the second video and freezes.

The fade transition requires loading and playing two videos simultaneously which isn't supported in many devices in current use.

This needs to be rewritten so that only one video is loaded at a time, and a different transition must be found between videos.

First of all, thanks for your app! But I ran into a problem that the application doesn't work properly on mi tv 4s. At startup it shows only 5 seconds, freezes and starts from the beginning.

this leaves it unable to set AerialDream as the default screensaver

Hi, I was wondering if there are any plans to add the newer apple tv "scenes" to this wonderful app?

With the new options window can we get option for caching again? My 500GB ShieldTV has plenty of space.. just an option to toggle the behavior of v0.4?

Mine auto updated and I didnt realize it was streaming it all now until I saw it stuttering when I had a big internet transfer going on.. I much prefer keeping a local copy on devices that can accommodate it.

I'm running Aerial Dream on my Nexus Player that only has 8G of internal storage. Currently, the Aerial Dream cache takes up 1.8G of that. It would be great if there was a setting or some other way to limit the space used by the cache or disable it entirely so that I don't have to continually empty it manually.

PS--love the app. It really makes my screen beautiful, especially while listening to music!

I read here that HDR was disabled because it messes up fades.

I'd much rather have a few seconds of a janky/no fade and minutes/hours of beautiful HDR video than a few seconds of a nice fade and minutes/hours of mediocre SDR.

Please add an option to enable HDR videos for the ones who makes the same calculation as me.

I noticed today that the clock will display the correct time when the screensaver starts. But it never progresses as time goes by. It just shows the time it was when the screensaver was initiated.

Incredible app but I cant get mine to automatically start when my Shield TV is dormant for after 5 min.

After running the screen saver for a while I would come back to my TV either being stuck on a black screen or a frozen picture.

Took me a while to investigate, but searching through Logcat it seems as though the app is hitting a 404 on some videos and just bugs out.

Maybe we can we remove those videos from the playlist, but more importantly maybe we can gracefully handle a 404 to just skip to the next video.

Note: I'm still trying to track down the videos, it seems to be coming from either the
2018 4K or 2019 4K playlist. I'll update if I get anymore information. I think one is Los Angeles and one is Hong Kong.

I have been looking for such a screensaver for a long time but unfortunately, I cannot use it. Indeed, I live in Belgium and here, ISPs limit your bandwidth after a fixed amount of downloaded volume. I therefore cannot use AerialDream as it states that it constantly streams the video.

Would it be possible to add a "caching" feature so that the videos are only downloaded once? It would also make more sense in general.
