If your table is not on the required protocol version and requires a protocol upgrade:
ALTER TABLE table_name SET TBLPROPERTIES (
   'delta.columnMapping.mode' = 'name',
   'delta.minReaderVersion' = '2',
   'delta.minWriterVersion' = '5')
