Simple aircraft analysis and design tools for ME 415. Focused on eVTOL this year.
Our analysis codes use the Julia as the programming language. You won't need to know much about the language, but will need to be setup so that you can run the codes.
- Install Julia for your platform. For Windows for you can also use the Windows Store
- Install VS Code for your platform (a text editor).
- Install the Julia extension for VS Code (see the Install button).
- Download this repository: click green button labeled Code above then click Download Zip (alternatively if you know git you can clone). We will be updating the repository with each assignment so you'll need to redownload each time.
- Open up the setup.jl file in VSCode and run it (you can click the little play icon or setup a keyboard shortcut). You only need to run this script once, it will download and compile some of the packages we will use throughout the semester. You might have to run it again later in the semester if new dependencies come up, but we'll let you know.
- Now open up airfoil.jl (for the first assignment) in VSCode and run it.
