mbta-commuter's Issues

Better way to define commutes

Right now to define a commute you need to manually select each transit line and define which stops you are getting on at. This is just a quick way to get the info into the system. To make it better it needs to do the following:

  • Automatically generate a reverse route. Some of the stops going the opposite direction are slightly different and have different names/station ID's so it is not as simple as just reversing the directions.
  • Ideally there would be a way to enter a starting location and destination and have it determine which lines to take and then just select one option to define a commute. The API doesn't seem to provide an easy way to find how to transfer from one transit line to another. So it may be necessary to figure this out and pre-configure JSON files with transit points. I was thinking of using a script to pull info from the GTFS data on the MBTA site and try to pull that info out.
