Fighting COVID-19: Learning from South Korea

An analysis of the COVID-19 data from South Korea is presented in the covid_fight_plan.ipynb notebook. The data can be found on Kaggle.

The aim of this work is to analyze the COVID-19 data from South Korea and prepare recommendations for fighting the next wave of the pandemic in Lithuania.

The work objectives are as follows:

  • Provide the picture of a COVID-19 patient;
  • Get insights on COVID-19 infection cases;
  • Describe the spread of COVID-19 and government reaction to it.

Resources from South Korea available for analysis:

  1. Data of COVID-19 infection cases
  2. Epidemiological data of COVID-19 patients (from 2020-01-20 to 2020-06-30)
  3. Time series data of COVID-19 status
    • in terms of diagnostic tests (from 2020-01-20 to 2020-06-30)
    • in terms of the age (from 2020-03-02 to 2020-06-30)
    • in terms of gender (from 2020-03-02 to 2020-06-30)
    • in terms of the province (from 2020-01-20 to 2020-06-30)
  4. Additional data:
    • location and statistical data of the regions
    • data of the weather in the regions (from 2016-01-01 to 2020-06-29)
    • trend data of the keywords searched in NAVER which is one of the largest portals in South Korea (from 2016-01-01 to 2020-06-29)
    • data of floating population in Seoul, South Korea (from SK Telecom Big Data Hub) (from 2020-01-01 to 2020-05-31)
    • data of the government policy for COVID-19 (as of 2020-06-30)

However, in this work only a part of the available resources is used.
