Should work, thanks to unison running entirely within the container and plain old volume mounting being used for the real keepers (things that are not node_modules).

But... does it work?

While it's harmless inside a dev container, it can throw you off, for instance unit tests designed for a non-root user might fail because root can do what the intended user can't, like reading a file with permissions 000.

You could argue it's not important because you do editing etc. on the host, but it would be nice to be able to be logged into git in a stable manner, for instance. Yes, you can just cd into projects on the host and do git commits, but it's a jarring shift.

Should work, and might be essential for practical WIndows use.
