Problem: Currently the 'Support' header and the icons in 'Get Involved' only reference Patreon, limiting discoverability of supporting through Open Collective

Solution:

• Update Support header to have a two item dropdown that links to Patreon and Open Collective pages, or directs to a Support landing page that has links to both. The former may be preferable as it minimizes site code and translation strings
• Update the 'Get Involved' section in the footer to include an icon for Open Collective. If the current stylesheet does not support an Open Collective icon, suggest referencing this stylesheet to generate the icon: https://css.gg/open-collective

Looks like this wants a metadata file in /images/ - I think maybe we need to exclude this directory in get_site_data?

Right now, the list of instances load, by default, in order of when I added the instance to the page, and you can use a javascript sort to change that if you want. But that seems like, possibly, not the optimal way to order the instance list. It could deprioritize closed and invite-only instances, sort by users, or idk, something else? I'd love to get thoughts on this from other folks.

Consider changing the template from "open source" to "libre" or "libre and open source".
Also having Libre as an icon (alongside "decentralized, friendly, anti-corporate) might be nice.

Could it maybe also make more sense to change "decentralized" to say "federated"?

Hi since the registration is closed, I was thinking that it might be possible to open a Dutch community. Would that be possible?

So I have noticed there is an inconsistency between the version of some instances such as wyrms.de and the version shown on the joinbookwyrm.com site, if you check here: https://wyrms.de/about it shows version 0.3.4, however on the https://joinbookwyrm.com/instances/ site it shows 0.3.0. Any idea why this is and if there is a fix?

When there's a translation string that takes a variables, like {{ _("%s users" % instance.users) }} in https://github.com/bookwyrm-social/join-bookwyrm/blob/main/templates/instances/index.html#L51, the string isn't being translated when the site is compiled. The translation string does seem to be loading correctly in the locale file (for example, https://github.com/bookwyrm-social/join-bookwyrm/blob/main/locale/de_DE/LC_MESSAGES/messages.po#L175).

i tried to sign up to that instance but signup does not send confirmation mails. the admin’s account has been inactive for months. the admin’s linked mastodon account is entirely gone. tried sending the admin an email 3 days ago but got no response. i would suggest removing it from joinbookwyrm, as clearly, nobody can join it. thank you

It has been working two weeks on invite mode and today we made it public on Mastodon and other social networks. Some local news already mention it (more coming).

Note: We are working on Crowdin to improve the actual Basque translation of BookWyrm and complete it. We already did many little fixes but probably we'll need some time to complete the translation.

I’ve been using it for a while but sometime in the last few days it went offline. I don’t see it in your list of instances but it was one of the bigger ones. How to recover my history?
