Agreed on the first point, though I'm not sure how to check for this yet.
On the second point, why not just turn off the dynamic updates? I.e. uncheck "Update bundles during runtime" in the Run/Debug Configuration dialog.

Fair, but then there should be an easy way to indicate you do want to reload because the hot update is actually very nice. Could you add a dynamic reload button to the console view?

In latest build, bndtools does not build the bundle if there are any build path errors or Java compilation errors.
