Hi - This app worked perfectly on Android 9 on the Shield TV.
Now that the shield is on Android 11, when I go to another app then go home, it’s a black screen and then Kodi starts again. Does the app need to be updated for Android 11 so that kodi as the launcher doesn’t close once I go to a different app?

Let me know if there is any other information I can provide. And thanks so much for the app, I’ve been using it to make kodi my launcher for several years :-)

After start android kodi launch with no sound i quit and restart kodi to have sound.

a very good app you got there, i wish to suggest you add an extra feature to it to make it a complete package.
you will notice that almost everyone using this app is mostly using it on android tv box not a tablet, and most of these boxes come with navigation bars below. some are covered but some are exposed.
i suggest you add a code that will deactivate or disable the bar, since everyone using this app wants to boot into xbmc tv .

Decided to answer here.
Yes, I lose root access for all apps, but then I push home button, I got it again and Kodi restarts.
It looks like after each reboot all apps that need root access reporting to me, what I have not it, but when I press home button (on my remote) Kodi restarts and I got root acces.

I'm using android 4.4.4, and SuperSu app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu).
Tried to reinstall it from google play but it didn't solve my problem.

when shutting down or closing the kodi-app the xbmc-launcher automatically restarts kodi.
How to disable this feature?
Because of this it's not possible for me to shutdown my android media player

My Kodi setup is very stabil, so i don't need the automatic restart option. Is is possible to make the auto restart feature optional?

I've just upgraded my FireTV from Gotham (XBMC) to Helix (Kodi), which has changed some things here and there.
Maybe also the main activity name?
Since I did the upgrade, the launcher just activates the settings screen, not Kodi.
The Kodi user data is now placed in org.xbmc.kodi, rather than org.xbmc.xbmc, could that be the issue?

Is it possible to have the launcher hide the menubar before XBMC gets started? If I hide it after, the full screen doesn;t get used by Kodi.

Just an FYI, I noticed com.apkfreak.kodilauncher on the PlayStore and looks like an exact copy of your application without giving credit or a link to the source.

I have gotham running on an xios pivos set top box. I think the idea of using a different launcher is super. The only problem I'm having is that it doesn't wait for the network to be available before starting xbmc. Because I keep my metadata in mysql on a different system, xbmc always launches without any TV shows or Movies. The fix is simple, just hit exit and it will relaunch, but it would be great if it just waited a bit for the network to establish before it starts.

The option to use this as the default launcher is broken in Marshmallow. My install is purely for my mother to use Kodi, and as such this launcher was fantastic! It took all of the complication away from using it! I'd love to help if we can get it working again! I'm not sure what info would be of use to you, but here's my setup:

Device: Nexus Player
OS: Stock, latest update
XBMC install: Stock Kodi app from Play Store
XBMCLauncher is latest version as well.

Dont know if this is possible, but i would like to have a emby launcher. Its an alternative to plex or kodi.

Hi. I have XBMC installed on my Minix device.

After I've installed XBMC Launcher, other apps stopped launching automatically, like my SSH, FTP and VNC services.

It would be very nice if we could mark other apps to autostart with XBMC.

for some reason it wont launch the new kodi from the play store.

It'd be nice to have this app published through F-Droid.

Have you looked into it and ran into issues?

Please, can u add the option BOOT_COMPLETED, to start launcher?

On kodi18.3 if the launcher start too soon, dont detect the network up and everytime says.. web server failed to start :(

Or another option, set delay to start launcher 5-10 sec

Hi,

when I press the home button while watching a video it stops the playback.
It would be nicer if this app just returns to home screen in this case but not stopping the video.
Is this possible?

Hi,

It would be best if we can configure the package to start (eg at first launch).
On Minix (Android TV box), they build their own hardware optimized XBMC. The package is called "hk.minix.xbmc", so obviously, your Launcher does not work with it.

Also it may be preferable to use PackageManager.getLaunchIntentForPackage() instead of starting the .Splash activity.
